Bottle [from Euro Swap 2019-1 thanks to Rosenbergh] at home. Brown color, reddish glare coming through, average sized beige head. Smell and taste malts, toasted and roasted malts, liquorice, moderately bitter, malt bitter, slightly dry finish. Suitable decent to medium body, decent carbonation. Solid beer.

Musta olut runsaalla vaaleanbeigellä, hyvin tiiviillä vaahdolla. Melko mieto tuoksu on leipäinen, lakritsinen ja makea. Maku sen sijaan on vahvaakin vahvemmin lakritsinen. Pitkä lakritsinen jälkimaku. Erikoinen, mutta varsin onnistunut kokeilu.

(Draught at Kaisla, Helsinki, 27 April 2016) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of liquorice, black coffee and dark chocolate. Malty, roasted taste with sweet liquorice, dark chocolate, coffee, black rye bread and a gentle roasty bitterness. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and well made, a bit sweet but with a good liquorice character. Nice one.

Bottled, thanks oh6gdx! Cloudy dark brown. Aroma of sweet licorice. Super sweet with medium body and clean mouthfeel. Sugar and salmiac. Just far too much sugar. Salty bitter finish with unpleasant saccharine burn.

Smell of yeast, mead. Black colour, creamy brown head. Strong aroma of licorice, also roasted malt and sugar. Very sweet. Licorice flavour carries over the entire spectrum. Plentiful but soft carbon, semi-viscous texture. It’s like drinking candy. At least this lives up to its name.

Bottle in our somewhat shabby Helsinki apartment. Light haze on this deep brown amber beer. Tidy cream colour head. Smooth palate, mild fine carbonation. A little creamy sweetness in the smooth malts. Smooth slightly salty authentic licorice. Smooth finish. Does what it says on the tin and does it well.

33 cl bottle @ home, BBE 11.01.2017
Aroma has licorice, some bready malt and slight sourish element typical to dunkels. Flavour has licorice, some bready malt and licorice root. Also slight acidic tones in the background during the finish. Slightly too fizzy palate. This really has a lot of licorice in it. Surprisingly, this goes well with Kouvolan lakritsi.

33cl bottle from trade with rosenbergh, many thanks! Pours dark orange brown colour with a mid-sized beige head. Aroma of dark malt, liqourice, molasses. Taste of pure liquorice, some molasses, dark malt and brown sugar, interesting!

330ml bottle from Alko. Pours dark brown, almost black with a thick light brown head. Aroma of licorice, mild roastiness, earthy notes, grains, chocolate and cocoa. Taste is smooth, slick and sweetish with some spices, earthiness, roastiness and loads of licorice. Finish is smooth and slick with massive amounts of licorice, hints of toffee and candy. Quite a licorice overdose, but surprisingly good still.

330ml Bottle - Very dark brown with a foamy head. Liquorice, raisins and some roasted notes in the aroma. Liquorice dominates in the taste, and a lot more than could be anticipated from the aroma, but notes of roasted malt and a hint of coffee can also be detected. The main part of the taste reminds me of the Bertie Bassett sweets you used to (or are they still around now?) in liquorice allsorts.
