500ml bottle. Pours deep copper with an off-white head. Aroma: caramel malt, earthy hops, light floral. Taste: light sweet & moderate bitter, toffee, sweet caramel, apple and berry hints. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation and a light hoppy bitter close. I never get on with SN beers, maybe it's the yeast.

Pours an almost transparent clear copper, with one finger of firm and dense white head. Good persistence and some hints of lacing. Quite intense and pretty interesting aroma shows a layer of toffee and caramel malts, a grassy/piney undernote, floral hops and citric hops bordering red fruits, plus a light spicy hint. In the taste: caramel and toffee malts sweetness, some kind of 'ripe' citric fruitiness, which as mentioned borders red fruits. Light floral hops and slight spiciness too. Sweetish entrypoint and balanced finish and aftertaste. The taste is overall complex and quite intense as the aroma, but not equally defined/clean. Medium bodied with low to medium carbonation. Strangely 'burpy' given the not too high carbonation. An overall enjoyable example of classic english ipa.

Nice amber colour with thin head. Aroma of malt, caramel, burnt butter. Moderate to low carbonation and smooth on the palate without being syrupy. Taste of sweet malts, caramel, slight fruity hops with a moderate bitterness. Well balanced smooth old style IPA - nice. Superior to Marston's 'Old Empire' which I have had recently in a similar style.

Bottle on 18th April 2020 from Nisa, Chester Road, London N19. Pours a deep copper with shallow off-white diminishing foam and spot lacing. Intense caramel malt/molasses aroma. Toffee flavours in-mouth with hints of apple and berries. A hint of bitter hops comes some way to balancing an otherwise sweet caramel malt finish. Medium bodied with a full texture, the mouthfeel being a redeeming quality.
