Jet Black Heart is a 4.7% milk stout, loaded with oatmeal for an extra lush mouth-feel and nitro dispensed on draft; expect decadent cacao, subtle roastiness, and autumnal fruitiness with a dark seductive edge. Inspired by some of the awesome craft nitro stouts we tried in the US we wanted to put our own spin on the style and also introduce nitro beers to BrewDog bars

402ml can (never had that quantity before) from Morrisons. I'm trying the Nitro 6% version but its been aliased to this one so there we go. Pours black, there is the faintest of ruby red at the bottom when put to a light but near enough to 'jet black'. Lovely small beige creamy head which lasts. Aroma has all the classics of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate and vanilla but I am picking up the oatmeal in the background. Taste is sweet, roasty, coffee, lactose, hint of vanilla, moderate bitterness. Body is full, lovely and smooth. Its a very well made milk stout.

Can. Morrison’s, I think. 6% and a nitro pour. Surely this warrants a separate entry? Pours like chocolate milk. Sits in the glass competemy black, with a thick, creamy, fully lacing, lasting, beige head. It looks fantastic. Nose has milky coffee. Milk chocolate. Vanilla. Hint of roast malt. Taste is sweet and milky, with a decent hit of coffee and roast malt bitterness. Super smooth mouthfeel. Moderate bitterness to finish. Maybe it’s the fact I’ve not had a beer for a week, but this just disappeared in seconds. Definitely one I’d happily fill the fridge with. Great stuff.

Nitro can, WW. Black, nitro beige head. Roasted malt, coffee beans, sweet chocolate nose. Flavor is creamy milk chocolate, caramel, ground coffee, sweet lactose. Almost a hint of fruit but not quite. Smooth, very nice.

Sampled from the tap at Brew Dog Barcelona. Pours near black with an earthy dark brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has light roast, sweet dark grains and a decent amount of chocolate supporting. Flavor has roasted malts and dark grains with growing chocolate and a hint of coffee underlying.
