Inspiré par la noirceur des sous-bois ardennais aux portes de l'hiver, ce Porter de 5,5% d'alcool associe l'amertume et le caractère épicé de l'Hallertau Perle aux arômes de café des malts torréfiés.

Thanks to Anke for bringing the bottle! Pours hazy black with a slowly diminishing, foamy, beige head. Aroma of dark chocolate powder, coffee roast, toast, earth, mushroom, walnut shell. Taste has a roasted core of coffee, earth, malty brown bread & a hint of herbal black tea, a bit spicy, very light nutty sweetness. Dry, herbal & earthy hoppy finish, toasty, nutty & yeasty. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Perfectly acceptable 'Belgian' Porter, nice.

Black with lasting head. Aroma and flavour start quite intensely with strong bitter roasted malts and some coffee. It does wane slightly though.

330ml bottle. Quasi black colour with slightly late awakening, average to huge, thick, firm, frothy, fairly lasting and lacing, beige to tan head. Yeasty spicy, slightly herbal aroma, notes of mustard, mustard seed, tarragon, Wiener sausage casing, cautious, more familiar hints of salted liquorice with bready, pumpernickel-like, dark malty background. Taste is equally encompassing both superficial sides of the divide between mustard, tarragon, Wiener and pumpernickel, salt and liquorice respectively; subtle bready, pumpernickel sweetness with a touch of treacle. Deserves familiarization for a while, sustainable payback in return.

On tap at ’Café Hesp’. Pitch black with a tan head. Roasty-malty aroma of dark chocolate, coffee and hints of ash. Roasty-malty taste of dark chocolate, coffee and hints of ash, followed by a short, roasty-bitter finish. Thin to medium body, slightly creamy but also a bit watery mouthfeel. Okay.
