Notes from 11/18/2008. The exact same alcohol content of Robitussin... interesting. First off, a pain to open. Capped & corked Juicy Juice justifying it's price tag. A strong sizzle on the pour & then it rushes back down. A murky rusted brown, it's full of floaters ...chewy. Raspberries steeped in simple sugar, with a touch of tartness & vinegar. I smell cherry Lifesavers too. It smells wonderfully juicy. Cider vinegar up front, but then a bum rush of cherry grape Juicy Juice that's just loaded with sugar. After shaking that off, the raspberries come through with a good blend of tart & sour & sweet, in that order of concentration. A dry woody finish helps wipe the initial horrible impression from my mouth, but not my mind. Almost, but I just can't get past those traumatizing juice box summer camp memories fast enough.

*rating overgezet* Het is een roodbruin bier met een dun schuim. Het heeft een kunstmatige fruitige geur. De smaak is zoet, kunstmatig framboos.

Purple red color. Cloudy, no head. Aroma and flavor have artificial raspberry juice. Very dusty and earthy. Very sweet, almost hurts your teeth. If it wasn't for the earthy flavors, any kid would love it as a lemonade.

Bottle from Vanuxeem. Pours a misty pink, small off-white head. Raspberry syrup on the nose, taste is perhaps a little old, tired malts, some stale off-flavours, overly sweet raspberry, imbalanced. Not sure this is a style that ages well. Note to self: always check best before dates in Vanuxeem! Will buy again fresh and re-rate. Scored objectively.

375 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours slightly hazy reddish copper color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense light pink head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big juicy/tart/tangy raspberries, strawberry, fruit jam, skin/seeds, red/green apple, red grape, honey, candi sugar, wheat, and bread; with lighter notes of hay, straw, grass, oak, funk, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/light funky yeast, raspberries, oak, and pale malt/sugar sweetness; with great strength. Taste of big juicy/tart/tangy raspberries, strawberry, fruit jam, skin/seeds, red/green apple, red grape, honey, candi sugar, wheat, and bread; with lighter notes of hay, straw, grass, oak, funk, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness, fruit tang; and light yeast/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of juicy/tart/tangy raspberries, strawberry, fruit jam, skin/seeds, red/green apple, red grape, honey, candi sugar, wheat, bread, hay, straw, grass, oak, funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/light funky yeast, raspberries, oak, and pale malt/sugar sweetness; with an awesome malt/tartness and tangy fruit balance; with zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from fruit tang/tartness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/acidic/tangy/tannic, and slightly slick/syrupy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 3.5%. Overall this is an awesome sweetened fruit lambic style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/light funky yeast, raspberries, oak, and pale malt/sugar sweetness; very smooth and easy to drink with the the modestly lactic/tangy/tannic/drying finish. One of the best sweetened lambics I have had. Insanely jammy fruit with balanced sweetness, and adequate tart/tangy dryness. Mild levels of funk. A really enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Reddish color with white ring. Aroma is artificial raspberry sirup, honey, sugar. Taste is raspberry syrup with a touch of wood sugar, and a bit tartness. Sticky mouthfeel, low carbonation. Somehow works out the best in this series - which doesn’t mean a lot.

7/V/17 - sample @ the brewery (Toer de Geuze) - BB: n/a (2017-586) Thanks to Klaas for sharing the beer!

Clear deep ruby red to pinkish beer, small irregular pink head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: lots and lots of raspberries, sweet, raspberry jam. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: lots of raspberry jam, sweet, pretty sour as well, bit lemony. Aftertaste: sugary, raspberry jam, lemon juice. Actually not as bad as I had feared. ;-)
