Edward (1917-2002) is our grandfather; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his five children. In his honor, this American Pale Ale is dutifully crafted from American malted barley, a plethora of American hops, our ale yeast and water from Edward’s well. It is unfiltered and dry hopped.

Tap at The Owl Farm. Hazy golden piur with a white head. Nose is intense fruity, citric notes with some grass and candy. Leaning towards the sweeter side of things. Taste is intensely hoppy, pleasantly sweet, citric, fruity, grassy, somewhat spicy. It’s just all around about balance. Light, pillowy, silky.

From tap at The Pony Bar, New York. Aroma is fruity and piney with citrus, soft tropical fruits, some grapefruit, hint of caramel. Surprisingly firm malt backbone. Mild sweetish, moderate bitter. Gentle and easy, nuanced softness.

On tap @Grand Delancy. Hazy, pale honey orange, sticky frothy. Heavy citrus, heavy red onion nose. Flat-ish, dense, big pith, lime, a little margarine, lingering aspirin. Good in parts. Expected something more refined.

Gezapft bei Tops Hops im Essex Market in New York. Unklares trübes, mittleres orange, ungefähr 1 cm Schaum. Aroma ist angenehm fruchtig, malzig, etwas Karamell. Geschmack ist sehr süß, bitter, Hopfen, Zitrone, etwas Pfirsich. Sehr gut.

Tap @ Hill Farmstead. Hazed opaque gold appearance with orange tints, large white head. Super green fresh hop aroma, smooth palate.. seems to be served way too cold, expected more pronounced hop notes but comes across rather empty with not a lot to latch onto. Shame.

Tap. Hazy orange color with white head. Aroma is grassy, orange juice, toasted malts. Taste is the same, grassy, a bit bready, solid bitterness. Medium carbonation. Tasty, very nice balance.
