Huge thanks to Erzengel for that one! Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass zippy, dark brown. Starts fine malty, roasty, also with a light smokey touch. Finish well balanced, soft-malty. Fine roasty aftertaste. Nice one!

Bottle bought at the brewery. Sweetish grainy beginning. Rund and smooth, slightly sweetish with a caramel dry aftertaste. A bit thin but smooth chocolate, sweetish grain with a moderate sweetish caramelly ending.

330ml bottle from a French supermarket. Pours a misty dark brown, small off-white pale tan head. Aroma is sweet malt, spice. Taste is sweet caramel malts with dark berry fruits, dates, some cocoa, a bit overly spicy with a dubbel-like sweet character, but generally ok.

bottle from Ferme Fruirouge Nuits-St-Georges. Cloudy brown, dense beige head. Sour nose. Malty, slightly sweet with dried fruit and berries, but unfortunatley quite sour....

Found in Chartres, nowhere else that I know of, highly localized stuff, but in Chartres you’ll find this all over the place anywhere in town. Pours dark brown with little head. Aroma of burnt and spicy barley, also some kind of barnyard funk. Taste is a very spicy barley, lots of roasting, sharp and bitter finish. Never had a bière de garde like this, somewhere between that and a stout.
