Can. Deep dark, clear gold. Medium head. Who knew the Germans know how to make a really good pale ale. Aroma was a tad sweet with a nice well balanced smell. Taste was just just great. Just the right amount of hops flavor. Wish I had another.

Ever so slightly hazy golden and peach coloured body with a tint of copper, all with a thinnish, single centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of grass, hay, light grain, a touch of light metal and some more astringent yeast and biscuity notes. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong grassy and very caramely flavour with some toffee and grain with a big punch of grain towards the finish and a light bready/yeast flavour at the tail end. Aftertaste shows the grain, perhaps the smallest dose of German hops around, as well as a more earthy and nutty finish from the malts with a decent balance of sugar through and through. Overall, a decent enough, drinkable and palatable beer that doesn't show any 'pale ale' notes, but does show some decent malt and sweet flavours throughout and a nice balance. I sampled this 500 mL can as Day Twenty-One [of twenty-four] of the 2018 Christmas Advent Calendar, purchased from Costco in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 30-September-2018 for US$59,99/twenty-four, sampled at my house here in Washington on 21-December-2018.

33cl bottle. A clear dark golden beer with a mid-sized most good lasting off-white head. Aroma of sweetish grainy malt, straw, grains. Taste of dry sweetish grainy sweet malt, straw, traces of honey, low bitterness. Boring!

0,33 bottle.
***
It is a special color, leaning towards unfiltered, a transition between beautiful amber and semi-brown. Its head is unfortunately only medium white. Delicate, mixed malt, yeasty, bready aroma, with citrus in the background - similar to ipa, only much weaker due to fewer hops. Well hit carbonation, well hit alcohol. I got it as a gift, if you could get it here, it would be a very good drinking ale

Bottle. Malty aroma, caramel, ripe fruit. Malty taste, caramel, vanilla, ripe fruit, light to medium bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture and malty light bitter finish with caramel and vanilla notes. Not good and weird.

Flasche 0,33l (Kalea Bier-Adventskalender): Bernstein, glasklar, wenig mäßig stabiler feinporiger Schaum; in der Nase kräftige malzige Süße, leicht würzig, Malz, Malzzucker, Toffee, leichte dunkle Fruchtigkeit, leichte Hefenoten, nur dezente Hopfennoten; frischer + leicht fruchtiger Körper, kräftige malzige Süße, Malz, Malzzucker, etwas Karamell, cremig, kräftige Kohlensäure, dezente Hopfennoten, leichte Zitrusnoten, deutliche süßliche Hefearomen; fruchtig-süßer Nachgang mit Hefearomen - ein Pale Ale???

From the bottle. Pours amber, clear. The foamy white head soon fades away. Not much evident carbonation, looks rather flat. Aroma is caramel, biscuits, smoke. Taste is mildly sweet, traces of caramel and white bread. Nothing exciting but also nothing offensive.

16oz can pours out a golden topped with a white head. Nose is dead hops some newspaper and bread. Taste is more of the light hops and grain.

This should have been the Kalea Advent Calendar Day 4, but have stocked up a couple of days. Malty layers aroma. A hazy amber. Bubbly translucent white head. Light bitter, of a quinine nature. Some citrus seen in there. As I drink more a caramel sweetness makes an appearance at the end. Light bodied. Thin. Fizzy. Abrupt finish. Not great. Had worse. Not quite shite pale lager lows.
