Auf der Suche nach dem besonderen Geschmackserlebnis stießenunsere Braumeister auf den sonnenverwöhnten Cascade-Hopfen aus den Vereinigten Staaten und verliebten sich sofort in seinen aufregenden Duft und das fruchtig-milde Citrus-Aroma.
Die im Brauprozess umgesetzte Hochzeit mit einem traditionellen Hefestamm von den Britischen Inseln rundet den Geschmack ab. – Willkommen daheim, Weltenbummler!
Das Bernsteiner ist ein gelungenes Pale Ale Bier, das nicht zu aufdringlich ist, sondern eher als angenehme Spezialität gerne nach dem nächsten Glas verlangt.

Pours hazy orange golden with very thin and nonladting offwhite head. Gentle peach and apple nose, slight biscuity back. Moderate grassy bitterness with a hint of fruit. Herbal aftertaste with unpleadant metal. Lighter body. Not unpleadant but nothing great either. Passable.

Fläschken: Hazy, golden to deep golden, medium-sized and slowly collapsing and lacy off-white head; dryish grassy and dusty nose with delicate yeasty traces; moderate dry bitter flavour, light bodied and a bit tart; dry lingering grassy and tart finish. Quite monotonous, not much more than a simple north-german Pilsener (!)...

*Bottle from a local Globus. Smooth caramelly beginning. Round and mild, floral hops. The back is slightly bittered, grainy smooth, malty and hints of caramel. Nice Amber Ale. Round and smooth with floral fresh hops on top.

Pours a deep copper color. Light malts, some wooliness in the finish. A bit light but refreshing. Harsh and yeasty after a while.

500ml can. As Bergbrau Pale Ale. (4.1% ABV) Pours a clear copper with a medium, creamy, off-white head that laces. Mild, sweet aroma of caramel malt and grain. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, biscuit, grain and just a hint of citrus in a mild bitter finish. Light body with a thin, watery texture and soft carbonation. Bland and boring. Missed the mark as an APA.

Bottle, 0.33l. Clear ruby amber color with thin creamy off-white head, good lacing and sparkling appearance. Aroma is grassy, worty and honeyish. Taste starts with light sweet caramel, following is grassy, mild fruity and chalky with smooth mouthfeel and mild bitter finish. Light body, thin texture and average carbonation in palate. BPA - boring pale ale...

(bottle, 33cl) Clear, amber colour with a slightly beige and short foamy head. Discreet aroma of caramel and slightly citric hops. Mildly sweet and slightly bitter flavour, light bodied with a moderate, almost crisp carbonation. Delicately biscuity malt character with notes of caramel and fruity, manily citric hops; dry and sweet-bitter, moderately fruity hoppy finish. Not a bad brew, but fails as an APA. 28.VIII.17

Bottle, 0.33l. Deep copper pour, strong red hue. No head despite quite a violent pour. Not so fresh on the nose, quite stale with lots of wet grassy hops. Herbal with a note of caramel. Thin body with medium carbonation. Light and watery. Very lighy... empty, even. Feels incredibly bland. Mild bittersweet taste. Lots of grainy lager notes. Some malt, wet grass and stale hops. Slight sweetness on the lips. Mild bitterness throughout the finish. Some faint tart notes. Overall, quite bland and one dimensional. Falls more into blond ale / bitter category, this one is most definitely not an APA.

Bottle at home, amber beer, small head. Aroma is malt, hops, caramel. Taste is the same, bitter and sweet, ok beer.

Ich bin nicht mehr sicher, wann genau und wo ich dieses Bier getrunken habe, aber es ist schon ein paar Jährchen her und ich glaube, dass es sogar ein Diskonter mal im Angebot hatte. Geschmacklich ein durchaus solides Pale Ale, das wirklich bernsteinfarben ist und einen leicht fruchtigen Ton hat. Nach dem Körper lässt es aber schnell nach. Man kann es gut trinken, aber es ist kein Höhepunkt der Braukunst.
