Mourning Wood is an oak-aged coffee amber ale. Fresh American oak used during the aging process and Dark Matter’s El Salvador San Jose pulp-natural coffee aromatically drive the beer yet they remain subtle components of the beers’ overall flavor profile. This amber colored, medium-bodied, and extraordinarily well-balanced ale has a delicate taste that is appreciated by beer drinkers of all palates.

Amber with a small white head - coffee and wood in the aroma - taste has some coffee notes, but the most dominant flavour is of vanilla from the wood - Lingering malt and vanilla with some hint of coffee - This was interesting and quite nice

50cl bottle pours a hazy amber with some creamy, white head. Nose is nice, blonde roast coffee, very nutty, almond, gristy, cracker. Flavor has a nice cold pressed coffee character, nutty, some cheese rind, a little caramel, malt. Lightly nutty, lightly sweet finish. I really like the blend of amber beer and coffee.

Botella de 50 cl en el lúpulo. 27-01-2014, En el momento. Color ámbar miel algo turbio. Cuerpo medio con 7.3 vol y algo de gas, bastante espuma inicial de color blanco que desaparece rápidamente. Aromas a caramelo especias y bastante café tostado.

Half liter bottle from Wine Warehouse, Charlottesville. Awesome to see these guys in Virginia! Pours a hazy auburn color with a large frothy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of coffee, raisin, toast, neutral wood, floral notes, honey, mild hops. The taste is coffee with some bitter notes, caramel malts, mild wood, mild citrus hops. Medium bodied, subtle, well balanced. Nice beer.
