Our sparkling Belgian Style Farmhouse Ale is wine barrel-aged with an abundance of hand-zested orange peel. Spicy white pepper notes contrast the citrus tartness. The light, refreshing, creamy vanilla finish will excite those fond of Champagne. Originally brewed by Belgian farmers to attract the best farm hands, we were inspired to brew an exceptional ale as inviting as the original Belgian Farmhouse ales. Light and effervescent, we named it for our founder’s granddaughter Sofie.

765ml bottle. Hazy yellow pour, big rocky white head. Tart, lightly funky aroma. Some grass, wet hay, and straw mixed with yeast and citrus. Lively mouthfeel and carb. Finish is peppery, and tart with a medium bitterness. Crisp finish and quite refreshing. Very impressive.

Bottle from Hopt. Aroma is pale malt, slightly funky yeast, tart dried fruits, orange, citrus peel, floral, peppery and soft herbal notes, mild bretty, touch of wood and creamy vanilla. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet and fairly tart with a dry finish. Body is medium. Has all the qualities and complexity of a fine Saison.

Notes from April 2010 Bottled: June 1st '09 $7.55 from New Beer Paired this one with some salmon & green beans. I went easy on the lemon. Ommegang anniversary tulip/flute hybrid glass. Sweating, but not too cold. No need to decant this one. Bright & pale gold body, with a stacked eggshell white head. A bit too much head. Smell was intense with pepper. Background noise consisted of dark leaf lettuce, gum, mango, cornstarch, & a little spoilage. Taste was upfront with bitter pineapple core, bitter/metallic greens, lemon rind, salt, touch of orange, & too many witbier/wheat beer similarities for my liking. A tough doughy on the follow through. Lingering menthol bitterness & alcohol. Feel was decent enough. Crisp, but not overly sharp carbonation. Creamy middle that turns bone dry on the finish. Too early? Saisons/white ales tend to start tasting dusty with age in my opinion. This one didn't taste old, but just didn't really distinguish itself from everything else out there, despite the initial curiosity over what was described on the label.

355 ml bottle. Cloudy orange with a big fluffy head. Lots of brett, orange peel, coriander seeds, fermented hay, again brett, grapefruit, vanilla. Dry bitterness, fruity sweetness. Medium to full bodied, oily texture, lively carbonated, dry funky zesty bitter finish. Tasty, very authentic Belgian Saison!
