Die India Pale Ales (IPA) der nordamerikanischen West Coast haben in den 1980er und 1990er zuerst in Nordamerika und später anfangs 2000 in Europa und weltweit die Bierwelt grossartigst und - wir sind überzeugt - für immer revolutioniert. Microbreweries in New England und Vermont haben in den letzten Jahren jetzt ihrerseits die India Pale Ales revolutioniert und schaffen ein vollkommen neues Trinkerlebnis. Noch nie zuvor hat Bier so geschmeckt.
Juicy und super fruity kommen sie daher. Saftartig und super fruchtig. Balanciert der malzige Körper die Bitterkeit der West Coast-IPA gekonnt aus und entfaltet sich die Hopfigkeit von West Coast-IPAs oftmals grasig-pflanzlich, so stehen eine saftartige Vollmundigkeit und eine sagenhafte Fruchtigkeit beim New England IPA im Vordergrund.
New England IPA, Vermont IPA, Hazy IPA oder Juicy IPA nennt sich der Bierstil, der nach den West Coast IPAs der 1980er und 1990er Jahre wieder einmal die Bierwelt revolutioniert. Ein unglaublich lehrreiches Brauerlebnis für uns Brauer - ein komplett neues Trinkerlebnis für Bierliebhaber.
Einst als einmaliger Collaboration Brew mit den tollen Jungs vom Braukollektiv Freiburg (Deutschland) im Sommer 2018 gedacht, brauen wir es seither permanent. Mittlerweile hat es auch seinen verdienten, ganz eigenen Namen erhalten. Ein bisschen wie Alice im Wunderland fühlten wir uns in den letzten zwei Jahren beim Brauen dieses fantastischen Biers.

Thanks Olivier and Christine for this can. Enjoying it on sunday, at home, after my arrival from Sevilla. For me, it was a well brewed neipa, classic and citrus, dry and mineral, malty with a floral hop giving a lychee and tropical note, dry hop, 16.05.22, at Epalinges.

Sample at Solothurner Biertage, may 2019. Hazy golden orange body with a nice white head. Aroma has lots of juicy fruit like citric, grapefruit, mango and tropical fruit. Same goes for flavor, lots of fruit like aroma and really not much more. Nice like any other fresh served NEIPA.

16oz can pours a murky yellow, pulpy, white head. Sweet nose, vanilla and oats and orange curd but a big Sweet N Low thing. Flavor hits with flabby sugar, some citrus and light tropicals, but it's too damn sweet. Finishes full bodied. Eek.

Bottle from Kitchen brew shop in Allschwil as Alice in Wonderland NEIPA. Pale yellow, thick opaque cloudy, thin white head disappears almost immediately. Fruity bitterness, nicely balanced with sweet, pong finish.

Hazy gold with a frothy, white head. Orange juice aroma with hints of candy and bandages. Taste is bitter with a citric twist at the finish. Resin at the finish, but also lingering bandage nites, which is unfortunate, because otherwise it’s really not that bad. Body to the light side of medium, moderate carbonation. Fails to feel refreshing. Drinkable.

Sampled as Kitchen Brew Braukollektiv Freiburg NEIPA Huge, fluffy, just yellowish collapsing head over deep yellow golden beer. Parsley, pale malts... not much else. Ever so slightly smoky, pale and lightly toasted malts. Bit dusty, floral hints and a fine light bitterness, woody/walnut. Creamy texture, despite good carbonation, slick. Nothing special, nothing wrong. Thanks to Stef!

hazy golden to orange colour, one inch of creamy white head; aroma and taste of pineapple, mango, slight tangerine, orange zest, piney and biscuity notes; great one!
