Bottled. Thick syrupy, the rye is predominant. Finishes with hops. Alcohol too prominent in this one.

From Oct 2008
I got this bottle in a trade with nutbown. Thanks Alan!
This pours a deep amber gold with a small head of foam. Again, there's lots of lacing like the others I've tried from them.
The smell is both hoppy and malty. Good notes of caramel and light floral hops with a rather strong peppery presence. My nose is happy.
The taste is stronger than the smell when it comes to the hops. Floral and piney hops dominate with a strong pepper spice flavour and a mild caramel malt backbone that I wish was more assertive. Dang, this is spicy and it makes me take long breaks between the sips. The alcohol is also more assertive than I care for and not nearly as well hidden as in their Jewbelation 11.
The mouthfeel is medium and nice, the carbonation is medium, and it finishes very bitter with some sweet tones though, I can't say that it's anywhere near balanced.
Bottom line: This one just doesn't do it for me and finishing the bomber will be a chore. Too much hop bitterness and pepper spice for the amount of malt that I can taste. Too extreme for me? I think so.

Pours a dark copper brown from a bottle. Whiskey and rye nose with caramel. Flavor similar, very malty, with lots of hops too, but seems like less of an IPA than a pale ale, or even a super hopped scotch ale. Good beer.

Bottle pour into pint glass from Globe Drug. Aroma is strong caramel with alcohol--similar to barleywine. Appearance is hazy orange-brown with off-white head, nice sparkle and trace lacing. Taste is strong caramel with alcohol. Palate is medium bodied with slippery texture, soft carbonation and pleasant warm feeling in the stomach and sweet fruity/floral alcohol finish. Bitterness is experienced in the back of the mouth/teeth rather than aroma/taste. Overall, I might doubt my rating a little since this is likely a little old (is there any other kind from Globe Drug?) but the consistency with other ratings tells me this is more on than off. A nice sipping beer--strong with copious caramel maltiness and the alcohol comes through, but in a nice way. But, with the balance toward the malty side rather than hoppy, this suggests to me that it was a bit old.

Malty and funky IPA on the rye end of things. Pours dark brown with OK head and lacing. Medium bitter finish. Citrus and big rye aroma. Bottle.

Poured from a bottle it is dark amber with a creamy head. The aroma is rye and the taste is very boozey and remains on the palate strong and burns through
