12 oz. bottle. Pours dark amber with a small beige head and a little lacing. The aroma is apples, rye bread, caramel, oranges, and biscuit dough. The flavor is very bitter, with a sharp spiciness in the middle, and only a little malt sweetness. The palate is medium to heavy, sticky, and very astringent. Overall, this is a good rye IPA, with a great smell, and a good flavor.

Draft at Dexters. Unfiltered red-brown. Big, steady beige-orange head. Sweet, sugary specialty malt aroma. Rich doughy mouthfeel. Piny hops and resinous rye go together well. Big and biting, solid alcohol tones. harcore gingerbread and toffee notes. OK, but not exactly world class stuff.

Tap @ Wynkoop upstairs. Cloudy, reddish brown appearance with a light brown head. Fairly potent piney, citrusy hoppy, light rye, bready aroma. Somewhat bitter, rye bready, moderately piney hoppy flavor with a bit of fruits. Good beer but I think I prefer Hop Rod Rye.

From a 355ml bottle on 6/10/2011. Pours a slightly opaque amber with a biggish head. Has a pleasant aroma of rye bread and honey, with a touch of citrus. It starts out intensely sweet, with rye, caramel, toffee and mandarin all present. This is followed by a huge lingering hop bitterness. The texture is quite syrupy, making it a bit of a sipper. A fine, quite individual DIPA for those who appreciate the extremes of sweetness and bitterness.

/11/1/11/12/11

Dark amber brown colour with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet and fruity, rather lighter on malts and hops than expected through the claim on the bottle. Some spices. Flavour is very sweet, caramel (malts), fruits, some grass and hay. Mild spicyness. Tones of hop in the finish. Alcohol keeps in the background, even though it actually has rather high ABV. Enjoyed from the \"Bargain Bucket\" with friends at the Globe Pub in Chicago, IL. Appearance a somewhat cloudy amber with a rich white head. Aroma caramel and hops, also a bit of yeast. Taste alcohol and beef jerky, really strong, also a bit of malt I guess, just really potent stuff, its decent.

Bottle. Pours dark orange with thick lasting foamy head. Citrus and rusk aroma, with some flower. Full bodied, orange, bitter orange and rusk flavours. Endless hop finish. A rye to remember.

12 oz bottle. Lovely, fine, foamy off-white head. Lots of bubbles. Deep amber. Aroma of caramel, rye, nice hops. Fluffy, full, smooth, frothy mouth. Very fun. Rich flavor of caramel, rye, tasty malts with complex, well-balanced hops. Yum. Close to a barley wine to me.
