Canette 473ml.

Originally rated June 2005. Kawartha Lakes Brewing was sold to Amsterdam Brewing in 2003. I use to love this brew, especially in summer. I have not tried it since the move. Pours a caramel amber colour with hardly any carbonation. Almost no head, and no lacing at all. The raspberry aroma now smell like it is from a fruit juice. Use to be real powerful. Same as the taste. Most people complained before, because it tasted too much. Now, it is hardly effective. Slight raspberries in the finish, slight wheat in the aftertaste. Refreshing, but a big loss. Same as the rest of the Amsterdam brews, just basic. Thank you KLB for all the years of good brewing... I will now put this one in the past.

Appearance is "meh", some head and a copper-sort-of-red body with plenty of carbonation. Aroma is cough-drop mint raspberry with a hint of wood, like that time you were a kid and found the candy in the couch sorta smell. Flavour is sweet raspberry followed by a harsh and dry woody finish with a wet palate. I hate these kinds of beers - neither here nor there, not sweet or balanced, just a cough-syrup awfulness. Total lack of intent, just a mixed up beer.

Brown bottle covered with plastic, 500 ml, savoured on July 24 2008; eye: coppery, extra clear, good effervescence, white head that falls rapidly but still remains a thick sheet, no lacing; nose: grain, light raspberry; mouth: watery, raspberry, grain, really short finale in malt with a hint of raspberry, light acidity, thin, refreshing, grainy texture, average carbonation; overall: correct FRANÇAIS Bouteille brune recouverte d’un plastique, 500 ml, savourée le 24 juillet 2008; œil : cuivrée, très claire, bonne effervescence, mousse blanche qui tombe assez rapidement mais il en reste quand même une bonne couche pour protéger la bière, pas de dentelle; nez : grain, léger framboise; bouche : aqueuse, framboise, grain, finale très courte en malt avec une pointe de framboise, légèrement acide, mince, rafraîchissante, texture granuleuse, carbonatation moyenne; en résumé : correct

Alright. Had plenty of raspberry beers lately and it’s not the best of them. Would be better with a softer palate more in keeping with a wheat beer.

(can) clear amber colour with medium tall white head; aroma of raspberries; clean and refreshing flavour with long light bitter finish, simple but refreshing, ingredients list shows that it is made with raspberry essence, little indication of wheat beer character

Perfect definition of copper coloured body with a nice sized (two centimetre tall) tan head. Aroma of super strong and fragrant raspberries, a bit of wheat and a large amount of sugar. Medium to Light-bodied; Pungent and assertive metallic and off-tasting malt up front that fades to a decent raspberry finish with caramel and once again, a tiny bit of wheat/malt in the mix. Aftertaste is a foul bitter flavour with some minor raspberries and caramel too. Overall, not a great beer by any means, but not horrible and by far not the worst fruit beer I’ve had. I sampled this 473 (odd size) mL can purchased from the LCBO (Summerhill) in Toronto, Ontario on 11-October-2009, sampled back home on the American side of the border in Washington on 21-October-2009.

Medium to dark amber, with a low off-white head. Relatively fragrant aroma of dark malts, wheat, raspberry and hops: neither the wheat nor the fruit is in control here--good balance, sour and sweet. Taste is berry, with sweet and sour, dark malts, caramel, wheat and a touch of hops. Interesting combination, not strong on the wheat. The raspberry is a little fake tasting, but otherwise pretty decent. Finish of malt and sour fruits, with a touch of hops only. An interesting fruit beer with a lot going on. Not perfect or even outstanding, but enjoyable enough.

This Wheat beer poured a cloudy light orange colour with a rocky bright white head. To the nose there are scents of raspberry jam, yeast and sweet malt. First taste had a very strong purfume taste that didn’t really go away. Very thin as far as the mouthfeel went. This beer is lacking something. Watery finish with nothing but cheap purfume lingering.

Summer 2004. Orange copper beer with no head. Aroma of raspberry jam. Pleasant tartness with some raspberry notes in finish with a touch of hops . Medium bodied.
