A creamy and toasty ale, brewed with oatmeal, five malt varieties and roasted barley. Hops include a blend of Cascade, Willamette, and Tettnang hops. This lush, full stout has a rich black color and a dry finish that is smooth and gently hopped.

From old tasting notes. Translucent black, brown color. Creamy tan head. Earthy roasted malt aroma. Rich, roasted chocolate malt flavor has a subtle, smooth palate. Resiny biter hop finish. Lacks residual sweetness. Decent overall.

A tan head sits briefly over the body of this opaque black brew. Sweet roast malt aroma with nutty coffee and cocoa notes. The flavor is sweet and nutty at the start with some bitterness coming in at the end. A bit thin. Could use a creamier mouth feel.

Very creamy oatmeal stout with a pleasant dry finish. I found no real flaws with this one. Black pour with nice tan head. Nose and taste of chocolate, oats, cereal, malts and nuts. Rated 9/5/02

Dark brown with a medium beige head. Sweet aroma with hard roasted malt, dark chocolate and coffee. Flavour had hard roasted malt, liquerice, coffee and dark chocolate. Finished sweet and quite full for the style.

Draught at Beer Temple, Amsterdam on 19th March 2010. Black with a grey head. Burnt roast malts and delicious coffee espresso notes. Strong "zing" on the tongue. Malt aroma, rich and thick texture and a hint of (cigar) smoke. Bitter aftertaste, subtly rounded by residual maltiness. First class stout.

On tap at Beer Temple. Black colour, beige head. Aroma of roasted malts and good coffee. Flavour is roasted malts, light sweet, light chocolate, coffee, but all very subdued. Medium bodied, soft and smooth mouthfeel. Easy drinking stout, not shocking, but just nice and decent stuff.

Bottle. Black body with a tan-colored head, moslty lasting. Aroma of milk chocolate, roasted malt, latte and toast. Moderately sweet, lightly bitter flavor, but the finish is lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. The moderate bitter bite is a nice contrast to the sweet malts. Medium body with a creamy texture. Mild carbonation. Fairly straightforward oatmeal stout, but well done.

Bottle. Dark brown color... pours a little thinner than expected. The head is pretty minor and settles down to a few lonely bubbles in a minute or so. This beer has a fairly nice chocolate and oat nose. Flavor is thin, but has a pretty nice mix of roasted malt: chocolate and charcoal/peat are the dominant flavors, but there is a little bit of a dry and bitter coffee like edge to it as well. This is pretty good, but could stand to be a little fuller in my opinion.
