Cask at the Thomas Lloyd, Warwick. Poured a clear very dark amber colour with a lasting frothy off-white head. The aroma is malt, light toffee. The flavour is light bitter and sweet, with a smooth, rich, malt, earthy mineral, herbal, floral light hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Pours a mahogany brown colour with a small, lasting, creamy beige head. The aroma is toffee, dark fruit with vanilla notes. A moderately sweet malty and fruity taste, sweet malts, toffee and fruity flavours with a bittersweet fruity finish.

Cask at Thomas Leaper, Derby. Pours a murky very dark brown with minimal off-white head but good lacing. There’s plenty of dark fruits in the aroma, but the first impression in the mouth is of how watery it is. Some dark fruits and toffeee though, and traditional hops come along later with traces of grains as well. Finish is quite fruity. This is OK, but may need a rerate as it was served rather on the cold side.

Cask @ Albion Ale House, Conwy. Dark reddish-brown with a small creamy head. There’s good roasted malts in its aroma but milder in this respect in its taste.
