Luscombe Castle is actually a John Nash designed country house in Devon using Portland stone from neighbouring Dorset. This Devon cider suprisingly found in a bargain shop has quite a potent apple aroma and quality taste about it, with a palatable smoothness contributing to this.

Bottle. No idea where from. Says fuck all about “Dry” on the label. Clear gold obvs. Has a head. Tannic and baked apple. Pretty sweet with some twang. Pedestrian affair. Nothing to see here.

330ml from lowcostbeer Look - hazy pale gold, circular head or bubbles. Nose - barnyard apples, floral blossom, caramelised sugars, Taste - bitter funky apples, light apple vinegar and a sweetness to balance. Palate - medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry. Sweet and sour apple cider with funky-barnyard notes and dry finish. Lots of character. I like it.

32cl twist top bottle (new bottle size medal please) from LowCostBeer, can't find a BB date, but probably old. Cloudy yellow, dirty looking, no head worthy of the name. Smells and tastes of cooking apples. This is going to give me stomach ache, but I shall drink all 32cl of it!

many thanks for this extra dry and sour cider to Jacek Wigier (wineofdreams@gmail.com). Super.

Bottle at home, 24/07/18. Hazed golden orange with a decent off white cap that retains well for a cider. Nose is funky apple, caramel, smoked straw, stewed apple skins, toasted brown sugar. Taste comprises bitter apples, straw, light vinous edge, toffee, sweet and sour vibes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close. Decent cider ... good flavour profile for the ABV.
