Bottle from Northumbrian Gifts. Dark brown/near black pour with small beige top. Aroma of dark malt, a touch meaty, light coffee, dried fruits, sweet and herbal hop. A dark roasted bitter malt dominates in the flavour, some dark chocolate, there is a slight part citric fruitiness, drying finish. There is some sweetness and when combined with a lightish body there is an element of balance against the rich bitterness although not fully. Also there is not much flavour notes carrying to the end of this beer. Not convinced by it.

Jet black brown with a rich beige head. Chocolate and molasses. Smoke, chocolate and a thin body. Rich and creamy? I like it, but a bit off on the description.

Cask at the Joiners Arms, High Newton by the Sea. Reddish-black with a cream-coloured head. Light flavours of chocolate and liquorice with just a wisp of smoke. A bit thin and watery. All a bit too light if I'm honest, needs a bit of oomph.

Bottle from CentrAle, Newcastle station. Pours dark brown with a short lasting beige head. Aroma of light roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, nut and dark fruit. Moderate sweetness, and medium roasted bitterness. Quite light body, oily and watery texture, average carbonation. A light, easy drinking thirst quenching stout as intended by the brewer.
