Smoked black bitter: Deep ebony, nocturnal toned strong best bitter with a mellow blend of roast, cara and black malts. Notes of coffee, tobacco and dark chocolate with an all English bitter finish from the Bramling Cross and Fuggles.

Bottled. Deep brown colour with a mediumsized off-white head. Aroma is smoked, some floral, mild wooden and some biscuity and crystal malty tones. Flavour is mild toasted tones, some smoked notes with mild vegetables, floral notes as well as some herbal tones. Easy drinking.

Bottle at home, 25/08/18. Dark mahogany brown with a well presented lasting beige cap. Nose is mellow smoke, biscuit, toffee, dried fruits, light spice, brown bread. Taste comprises toffee, smoked malts, biscuit, campfire, burnt brown sugar, fruit slice, nutty. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. A pretty decent and well balanced smoked affair.

330ml bottle. Pours an unclear very dark brown / black with decent off-white head. Smokey aroma. Taste is pleasantly smoky, lightly nutty, with a nice caramel sweetness emerging, some cassonade and cocoa hints. Hitting the spot this.

Bottle. Medium head with medium duration. Color is dark brown. Aroma and taste are smoke, ash, caramel, malt, hops and has a smoky finish.

Bottle from Boxbeers. Almost black with a light brown head. Aroma is sweet, malty, roasted malt and smoked wood. Flavor is medium sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet and light bitter finish. 200717

On cask at Woodfest 2017 Castleford - Opaque black, tan head. Nose is smoke (naturally) but with the wood notes of the cask lending itself really well. Taste is a little harsh at the start, but eases in to finish like a nice smooth rauch.

Draft @ Taproom, Islington N1. Pours a black color with a small off-white head. Has a slightly roasted malty smoky aroma. Slightly roasted malty smoky spicy caramel flavor. Has a slightly roasted malty smoky caramel finish.

Draught at the brewery. Reddish black with a tan head. Aroma of smoke and treacle. Flavour is toast malt, dark sugar, some smoke, light bitter finish.

Appearance- very dark brown, some light coming through, a one-finger bubbly beige head. Aroma- chocolate, milky coffee, dark malts, some smoke, caramel, hoppy traces. Taste- smoky caramel and treacle, ash, smoked meat, bitter chocolate, chewy malt, coffee, sweet smoky finish. Good.
