The villagers knew when Squire Churchward had been to visit Mr Hunt. They’d see him wobbling towards the Manor. “Squire’s bin on the Wobbler” they’d say knowingly, describing the still, medium-sweet cider made here on the farm for more than 200 years.

Draft into bottle from lowcostbeer.com. Clear gold, brief white bubbles. Aroma of slightly funky overripe apples, earthy, citrus hint. Taste of a musky apple and skins but a good sweetness to balance, light leather, bitter finish. Slick medium body, subtle carbonation. Very good.

Clear pale gold with a small bubbly head and tart apples on the nose. Dry and tart up front, lots of apple peel and very dry, can sense the alcohol in the finish

500ml bottle. Pours pale gold with low carbonation. Aroma is dry apple juice with a little acetone. Taste has medium dry apple juice throughout. A little musty in places.

From a large glass flaggon at home, acquired from Aune Valley farm shop, 02/05/18. Deep golden with a fast collapsing head of bubbles. Nose is toffee apple, straw, lightest of farmy funk notes, sweet stewed apples. Taste comprises sweet apple pulp, caramel, straw, hay bale, light bitter edge. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent enough cider if a touch sweet.
