Bottle. This beer is black with no head. It is extremely complex and very tasty and it will give you a buzz.

Jet black pour, medium beige head. Aroma is dark fruit, burnt coffee, soy and hints of boozy wood. Oily mouth feel, soft carb. Finish is medium bitter, some Bourbon, but not much, some earthy wood, strong roast, and more dark fruit. It's OK, but not great, just meh.

500ml bottle. Pours a near opaque dark brown almost black with dark orange hue and a large, creamy, long lasting, khaki head that leaves curtains of lace. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, ash, vanilla, caramel and oak. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, caramel, dark chocolate, molasses, brown sugar, licorice, raisin, vanilla, coffee and oak with a dry, warming bourbon finish. Medium body with a creamy, smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Nicely done, has some complexity.

Says perfect as winter warmer - so this is a nice day for this (stupid polar vortex). Aromas of chocolate and molasses at first. Then, hints of coffee, bitter chocolate, roasted malts, nuts and vanilla. Dark brown colour with ruby highlights. Mucho-coloured head, fizzing away rather quickly with not much lace. The taste is rich and quite sweet in the middle with a little bitterness in the finish to balance things. Roasted malts, loads of sugars, light coffee and bitterness building. Seems a little too rich all-over-the-place with not much really going on. If you like the Wee Heavy sweetness, but in a stout, this might be your thing.

500mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out oak upfront, followed by vanilla, a touch of bourbon, and cocoa. Flavour is moderate-to-heavy sweet, with bourbon, vanilla, oak, and chocolate. Wonderful complexity to this, especially for an Innis & Gunn beer. Nicely balanced. Certainly not up there with elite imperial stouts, but it''s very solid.

500ml bottle. Black colour, beige foam head leaving lacing and aroma of roast malt, smoke, bourbon, chocolate and coffee. Taste is sweet chocolatey malt, roasted, coffee, woody, vanilla, dark fruits, liquorice, boozy with ashy, earthy bitter. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry roasty bitter finish. Nicely drinkable.

Keg at the beer kitchen. Pours deep brown, nose is caramel, burnt toffee, light fruit, taste is sweet, berries, chewy. Not really an imperial stout but not bad.

Tasting at SF, Vancouver
Dark brown to black color. Some aroma of roasted malt and burnt rubber. Moderately sweet, roasted malt and caramel flavor, but also some rubber; alcohol is quite hidden.
Not bad, but uncoordinated, messy.

Bottle - Burnt sweet notes and toast. Jet brown with a small beige head. Burnt and thin with a long finish. Lots of burnt notes that isn’t great.
