Dark, dark brown with a slow-gushing, foamy head. Interesting aroma that’s a mix of caramel and ashes with some mildly fruity, prune-like hints underneath. Taste is bitter and burnt with a touch of lingering sweetness at the finish. Medium-bodied, prickly carbonation. Not bad.

Bottle from Den Engelske Pub, Ølshoppen. Pours dark reddish brown with medium white head. Aroma is malt, caramel, prunes, milk chocolate and mild peated malt, campfire smoke and smoked ham. Taste is medium sweet, light bitter and faint acidic. Body is creamy with soft carbonation. Finish is long, rich and mostly sweet with caramel, toffee, chocolate, filtered coffee, dried fruit, oak cask and campfire smoke.

33cl bottle from hopt.it. Pours dark brown, almost black, with very fine cream foam. Aroma is burnt caramel, molasses, some coffee, nutty. Body is fairly full, with average carbonation. Taste is markedly sweet, with only some roasty bitterness. Final is fairly long, with some coffee and liquor.

Another 33 cl bottle from the recent belgiuminabox delivery, don’t know when I’ll see another anytime soon. The Teku glass is being used tonight because that’s how I roll sometimes. The brew arrives a dark walnut brown with a full, smooth head of very fine bubbles, good lacing potential. The nose is enticing with dark plums and bread dough wafting up. I take a drink. Hmm, unusual but interesting. Black licorice, malt, dark fruit, dark chocolate, a touch of smokiness and rye bread. I definitely get the Belgian ale/stout vibe. Certainly worth the effort to obtain, doubtful I will pursue again.

Bottle from Belgiuminabox. Pours a murky very dark brown almost black colour with a reddish hue & a medium sized creamy beige head. Aromas of chocolate, roasted malts, dry dark fruits, hints of tropical fruits, liquorice, vanilla and spice. Taste is very much the same with more chocolate, dark fruits, roasted coffee, vanilla, liquorice and an added smoky flavour. Low carbonation. Full bodied, slightly oily mouthfeel and a long chocolate, roasted, fruity and slight bitterness on the finish. Fantastic beer.

It comes across rather mild for the abv and style. Clean and highly drinkable. Definitely some coffee stout influences on top of a nice belgian. Online Etre bier
