Bottle from Beers of Europe @ 8.4%, certainly a strong one! Murky orange-gold, still, no head. Aroma of leather, sweet apple juice, apple skins. Taste is sweet light-musky apple juice, wood, some sourness, medium dry finish with alcohol warmth on the way down. Slick body, goes down nicely. Quite fruity and warming although lacks some depth. I was half tempted to warm it up as it has a good base for a mulled cider, just need to add your own spices!

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours a cloudy peach with minimal white head. Aroma has peaches and apples. In the mouth it is smooth and creamy. Starting off sweet with apricots and apples peel, Later is becomes sharp with crab apples and alcoholic strength. Finish is dry and warming. Overall a bit too sweet for me, but it is very good. Dangerously drinkable.

Handpull at the Salmon, Leicester. Dark gold and cloudy. Strong apple aroma with a floral hint and a touch of naked alcohol. Vingeary and saccharine simultaneously in the taste. Balance sorts out a bit nearer to the fi ish but this is tough going. A proper oesophagus stripper.
