An unfiltered and unrefined Barleywine. Intense, robust, malty and dark. The cognac of beers. A huge beer in a little bottle, this is a beer designed for sipping. Old Crustacean is brewed with eight ingredients, Great Western Harrington, Klages, Hugh Baird Carastan and Munich Malts, Chinook and Centennial Hops, free-range coastal water and PacMan yeast. Old Crustacean is best when aged for one year.

Draft. Poured a dark orange w/no head. Incredibly syrupy & strong flavors. Not my most favorite.

hazy brown colour, some beige-ish ecru lacing; aroma of pine resiny, dried apricot, grapefruity, orange zesty, yeasty and some dry red wine notes; taste is fully dominated by hoppy-resiny bitterness with the same notes as can be felt in the aroma; great one

0.75l bottle thanks to Lore. Hazy brown body with a beige white head. Aroma of orange jam, toast, nutmeg, booze and a huge amount of citrusy and grassy hops. Taste of toast, dark sugar syrup, caramel, orange zest, booze, grapefruit and grass. Very heavy beer. I like it though.

Dark brown with no head. Robust malt aroma. Full malt flavour with very little hop. Long lasting malt finish. This bottled brewed in 1999. I must say that I have never had a beer that old.

3rd LCRBM. Malty aroma with grapes. Fruity sweet flavor, roasty with alcohol, wood and porto. Burning mouthfeel, due to the alcohol. Bottle shared @ jbrus’s place. Out of the hectic open air session and tasted in the quietness of jbrus’s home I had to add two points. 2006 bottle. Porto aroma with raisin and a flowery and earthy bitterness. Firm oily and flowery hopbitter flavor, lingering on in the long aftertaste.

Assuming this isn't the right vintage, but it's the right ABV. Quite bitter for a barley, but goes down richly.

Taster at Darby's Gastown. Pours a hazy copper with a tan head. Aroma is sweet fruity caramel. Taste is similar with boozy and citrusy hoppy bitterness. Despite this one is a bit too much American barleywine than I would prefer, it is quite good.
