Deze zware stout is gebrouwen met wat rookmout en veel donkere geroosterde moutsoorten. Hierdoor krijgt het bier veel drogende gebrande bitterheid. Deze bitterheid doet denken aan salmiak, jodium en teer. De Amerikaanse hopsoorten geven het bier een sterk aroma van overrijpe mango en versterkt de teerachtige aroma's. Volgens enkele proevers doet het denken aan een Islay malt whisky qua aroma.

Bottle. Black colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is liquorice, roasted malts, some toffee and alcohol. Flavour is raisins, roasted malts, ashes and some alcohol. Ashy and alcoholic finish.

33 cl bottle @ hotel room, Bruges. BBE 03.03.2017. Aroma has syrupy malt, raisins and some smoke. Feels sweet and heavy. Flavour is also sweet and somewhat heavy with smoke, sweet rye tones, licorice, syrupy malt and raisins. Alsohol disturbs here a bit as it burns in the background. Still quite rich and nice.

Draught at Taphouse. Creamy lactose aroma. Hint of smoke. Black colour. Small stable tan head. The flavour is roasted, creamy and smoked with a mild lactose bitterness to finish.

Black with creamy, dark head. A very intensely flavoured beer with smoke, coffee, malts, whiskey. Bitter and sweet and fairly boozy.

Draught @ Taphouse, Copenhagen. Pours cloudy very dark brown with stable dark tan head. Clear aroma of malt, caramel and coffee, with smoky notes and touches of roast. Bitter, roasty flavour with sweetish nots of chocolate malt and touches of coffee. Roasty aftertaste with notes of coffee and liquorice. Decent.

Tap @ Taphouse, Copenhagen. Black with a light brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, chocolate and light smoky. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and rather bitter finish. Oily. 300515

From tap. Pours dark brown to black with a small tanhead. Aroma is roasted, dark chocolate and dense malty. Lingering dark malty and breadish, dark roasted. Bitter and dry malty finish.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus. Opaque pitch black color, slightly creamy light brown head that lasts for a long time. Aroma is malts, liquorice, iron, but also a hint of some kind of very sweet fruit. Taste malts, maybe a slight hint of smoke but I don’t really get it, although I don’t mine cause I’d probably dislike it anyway. Decently bitter, decent body, decent carbonation.

Bottle @ benzai. Pitch black colour with a medium to large sized dark brown head. Smells liquorice, iron, roasty, sweet. Tastes roasty, sweet, hops, quite bitter, black ipa, salmiak, salty, salty liquorice. Full body, nice carbo.
