Mikkellers tribute to the foul-mouthed stewardess Jackie Brown from Quentin Tarantino’s movie of the same name. It’s a roasty, chocolaty brown ale with hints of coffee and licorice. Being a Mikkeller brew the malts are inevitably complimented by a great amount of hop bitterness, aroma and flavour.

Bottle from Delhaize. Hazy brown colour, beige foam. Medium carbonation. Sweet nose of caramel, chocolate, bitter citrussy hops. Refreshing. Nice brown ale!

bottle at home bought at Ammersin5. dark brown color. big tan head. smells malty roasty, coffee, herbs & spices, milky. nice smell. medium body, soft carbonation, creamy mouthfeel. tastes of coffee roast, light ash, spices, herbal and citric notes from the hops. finishes with coffee roast and herbal notes. quite like it.

50 cl bottle. Pours amber brown, abundant tawny head. Aroma is intense: Coca-Cola (yes), dandelion, honey, chicory, chocolate... Good nose. Taste starts sweet-ish. Then sour, but watery. Finishes over-the-top bitter, harsh. Starts great then goes down the slope till it crashes. Real pity.

Foam: big white yellow brown frothy head long lasting leaving nice lacings Colour: dark brown Aroma: a lot of hops, even smoke Taste: medium to full bodied, roasted with strongly drying hops, get some coffee, earthy caramel sweetness, good flowery hop bitterness grape mouthfeel, chocolatey toasted malt, espresso-chocolatey, very smoothly roast flavour with a dry, bitter finish aftertaste lasts with dry touch and finish of bitter chocolate, A very nice brown ale.

330 ml. bottle @ home. Purchased @ Delhaize. I always expected Mikkeller to become a global brand but it is still a real shock to being able to buy a Mikkeller beer in a supermarket in Belgium. Drank as “Brown / Jackie”. BBF 10/03/2017. Dark brown amber, mocha head. Lacing. Creamy mocha, bit thin, faint roast chocolate & rather big blue cheese hops (Sorachi Ace?). Taste is light bitter mocha roast, blue cheese hops, mocha powder, milk chocolate, creamy, oats, lactose, grainy, powdery, instant chocolate milk,… Grainy & very creamy body. Highly delicious, I love blue cheese hops. At least that is how they taste to me, not sure how they taste to others, I usually associate the taste with Sorachi Ace. Amazing stuff & this is a Brown Ale. Wowza.

Found this and a few other Mikkellers in a local Delhaize supermarket, to my utmost delight... I wonder why it is called "Jackie Brown" here: the label litterally says "Brown / Jackie". Anyway: thickly lacing, light yellowish beige, medium thick, dense head over a hazy, dark wine red coloured beer. Rustic, malty aroma of burning wood, roasted pinenuts, bitter chocolate, hazelnut oil, almonds, black pepper, dates, orange peel hops (more so than normal for the style), freshly grated nutmeg, ginger powder, cranberries, very attractive. Taste begins with a restrained, elegant fruitiness (berries, dates, perhaps a faint banana suggestion), medium carbonated, evolving into a gracious, lean, pleasantly nutty and somewhat caramelly maltiness, lightly toasted, supple and subduedly sweetish; finish is equally malty, with a fair amount of peppery and earthy hop bitterishness on top of it, more so than usual for this style. Best viewed as an American-style brown ale I guess; I did expect a sweeter maltiness actually, but the unexpected hop bitter ending sure made up for that.

Bottle, 0.33l. Clear amber brown color with large rocky light brown head, very nice lacing and sparkling appearance. Aroma of caramel, berries, chocolate, oats, yeast and grassy hops. Taste starts with sour bready and fruity acidity, however sweet caramel, oats and roasted malts quickly dominate the palate. Mouthfeel is mild spicy, while finish is grassy bitter. Medium to full body, creamy texture and average carbonation in palate. It seemed like a hybrid between Belgian and brown ale...
