BIAB at Tanners Hall JDW Darlington. Clear pale yellow gold, afew bubbles on top and aroma of sugary pear with vinegary hint. Taste is sweet, syrup, fruity pear, fleshy pear. Syrupy mouthfeel, medium bodied, low carbonation, lingering light pear at the finish. OK.

Polycask at Harbury Beer Festival, Harbury, Warwickshire, 03.09.11 Very light silvery colour, I seemed to think that this was aged in some barrel or other but online programme doesn’t state that. Not really my thing, it’s too sweet and lacks a sharp pear tang, it’ll no doubt appeal to those moving on from alcopops and I can understand in that sense why it is popular, but not my thing at all. [Polypin at the Three Crowns, Chippenham] Clear, exceptionally pale greenish-gold. Aroma of nail varnish remover and pear drops. Tastes of over-ripe pears - very sweet but in a nice way. Alcohol is evident. After a while it feels like it’s dissolving your teeth. Nice in a shot glass, any more and the sweetness gets a bit too much.
