Westmalle Extra is the table beer served to the monks and their guests and is brewed with water, barley malt and hop cones. The Westmalle Dubbel and Tripel yeast is also used for this beer. Westmalle Extra is also top-fermented but it is considerably lighter, at 4.8%, alcohol-by-volume than its brother brews. It has the characteristic Westmalle aroma with hops coming through in the finish. It is a real thirst-quencher.

33cl bottle from Abeervinum, Rimini, Italy. Pours orange blood, partially hazy, with very fine white foam, stable. Aroma is grainy, a little honey and cinnamon, biscuit. Body and carbonation are average. Taste is medium sweet. Final is rather dry and clean.

Bottle via Drinkshop. Easy drinking, rather thin body and high carbonation. Medium bitterness, light sweetness. Moderate grassy herbal hoppiness, light Belgiany spiciness. Overall good.

Bottle. Cloudy pale yellow with a huge white head. Aroma of citrus fruits and yeast. Taste of grains, citrus fruits, straw and yeast. Slightly sweet and spicy. Moderate bitterness. Medium carbonation. Very balanced and refreshing. Such an easy drinking beer yet so flavorful. Great. If it was easily available around here it would become a sure staple in my fridge.

33cl bottle at home. BBE 08/2024. Poured golden in color with a steady white head. Floral hops, slightly peppery with notes of banana and wheat. Delicious. Summery, refreshing and top notch Belgian pale ale.

This is a little tough because from what perspective do you score this - it's excellent as what it is a Trappist table beer but table of beers are nothing special. Has the quintessential Belgian double fermentation brisk carbonation but a little bit thin on body. The vinous Belgian beer pale flavors and very drinkable.

330 ml bottle. Finally! Unclear pale orange with a creamy head. Coriander seeds, orange peel, yeasty, banana, curaçao, some woodruff. Mild dry bitterness, some sweetness. Light bodied, oily texture, soft carbonated, dry yeasty fruity crisp finish. What I expected from a Westmalle table beer, very drinkable, complex and crisp. Nice!

Bottled April 7, 2022, drunk from shelf on 6/1/23. Clear, light golden, amber tinged. Large, well-retained, white head. Nose is mega-fruity, with almost a witbier like playfulness, and matching spicy phenols. Honey-like malts seem well-attenuated. Clean, no alcohol or anything particularly crude. Clean, very yeast-driven, of course. Pale malts are well-attenuated, provide average depth. Dry on the finish with white bread, honey, white pepper and hints of bubble gum underneath big, round fruits. Nice for what it is and its size.

0,33 bottle.A hazy, golden-yellow beer in a nice bottle, with a remarkably loose, quickly disappearing head. Aroma: sparkling, pungent, flowery, but not too intense. Pungently carbonated, sparkling, dry, almost watery in this category. You can feel the hops, almost delicious, but for me it's somehow not enough, with this content it's not the best of the Westmalles.. And it's expensive to just drink it... Besides, it's an elegant, delicious, good yeast quality beer. I could imagine it with heavier dishes in a good restaurant...
