Curt came up with this crazy idea over 5 years ago and now, 3 years in the making, is finally ready for your enjoyment. He first started by seeking out the finest local honey and maple syrup and aged it in freshly emptied bourbon barrels for over a year. Then he brewed the biggest beer we've ever made, a robust imperial stout with house apple wood and hickory smoked Munich malt, and aged it in the barrels that previously held bourbon, maple syrup and honey. The result is a truly complex work of liquid art designed to be savored.

Draft. A black beer with no head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of alcohol, prunes, over ripe fruits, chocolate, and roasted malt, leading to a bitter finish.

Keg @ Mikkeller & Friends. Oily black pour with a very small dark mocha head. Very heavy vanilla fudge nose. Very light roast. All barrel but no soy. Sweet, bitter, tiny sour & malty. Fat mouthfeel. Light charcoal. I had no expectations but this is surprisingly tasty!

(On tap @ Mikkeller and Friends, Copenhagen, May 11/17) Pours totally pitch black with no head. Very intense and rich in character overall, with saturated aroma and flavour. Notes of sweet dark chocolate, fudge, maple syrup, rich vanilla, dark honey, wood, rich but balanced bourbon, roasted malts, smoke that’s not overpowering but balances the intensity and contributes a slightly salty vibe, light notes of dark stewed fruit. Sweet overall but with a moderate bitterness in the finish, drying wood, roast, smoked malts, subtle alcohol for the ABV. Full bodied, thick and oily, with nearly no carbonation. Truly fantastic, really big and rich and layered in flavour, but much less cloying than many other big name sweet stouts. Lived up to the hype!

On tap @ Mikkeller & Friends. As good as jet black in the glass this one. Nada head what so ever. The aroma however, lovely! . Vanilla sweet, lots of chocolate and mocha sweetness. Vanilla ice cream, milkshake and it really has this lovely bourbon woody sweet aroma this. Tastes really good also. Warning, loaded with vanilla woody flavors. Rich chocolate and a hefty roasted backbone. It's thick and oily, almost chewy in the mouth and it's just below average on the prickling carbonation. Slightly wood acidic also. Lovely, lovely stuff. Dangerous lightdrinkable! 11.05.2017
