Notch 9 gets its unusual name from the eight notch positions on a locomotive’s throttle, with each one delivering progressively more power. Notch 9 ratchets it even higher. It is a double IPA with a citrusy aroma from a crazy amount of dry hops. As it flows over your palate, you'll sense grapefruit and pine. It washes down with a dry crisp finish. Incredibly smooth and straw in color, it delivers the goods on strength. Sip this beer alongside a plate of cured meats or bacon to boost the umami and saltiness of the dish. Pair it with a funky cheese like Stilton or sharp cheddar.

Can from Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Aroma is resinous hops with grapefruit, malt, orange, sticky pine resin, touch of caramel. Long bitter flavour, sweetish sticky resin. Body is above medium. Resinous throwback IIPA, classic, welcome. Doesn't taste like 9%, very good.

Can at home. Clear golden color, medium sized white head. Aroma and flavor are malts, hops, nice resin and pine hop bitterness. Ik like this one. Firm sticky rein and pine bitters. Nice.

Pours slightly hazy, bit darker blonde. Small white head. Smell is pine, bit fruity, malty, bit sweet impression. Not creamy like all the new hazecraze got us used to. Taste is medium full, pine, decent bitterness. Room is left for the malts to compete as well, creating a more than decent body, under a lower carbonation. Mildly fruity. Surprisingly easy to drink. Bit caramelly. Fun to drink this more 'classical' style of American IPA.

Small white rim over hazy ochre beer. Almost smell-deprive. Rainwater, some faintly toasted malts. Artichoke, cooked. Bitterish, bananapeel, lupulin, bitter baguette. Bit slick, low to medium carbonation, but a bit tittilating feel, all the same. Not exciting.
