We dissected and dismembered the first black blood and stitched it together into new creation that have more hops, less alcohol and more blood to it.
Its appearance is bloody red when pouring, but in glass a pitch black beer. In nose and on tongue you will get aromas and taste of the finest possible gentle roasted coffee, fruity red berries and citrus. Deep dark red colour and the taste of berries comes from addition of amazing organic red beet juice.
This is a true treat for the metal heads hungover bodies.

Can at home, köszi Áron! Pours black with a red hue and a ruby head. Disclaimer: I hae no idea what beet tastes like. So here we go. Nose is low bitterness, dry cocoa powder and chocolate and a touch of slightly tart, slighlty sweetish somewhat fruity character. Taste is moderately tart fruity first, then some chocolate and cocoa powder appear, followed by an apparent, but not overwhelming bitter touch and almost immediately that fruit-like character that might as well be the beet. This latter lasts pretty long. Light body, soft to average carbnation, easy to drink. Interesting, but I dig it.

The second version of a black IPA made for metalheads by Austrian craft beer vanguard Bevog, thanks tderoeck for the can! Thick and frothy, cobweb-lacing, stable, deep beige head with 'ruddy' hue (the result of added beetroot, apparently) over a blackish beer with clear, very deeply wine red glow. Lovely, quite distinct bouquet of coffee filters, spruce shoots, dry black pipe tobacco, patchouli, black tea, marmite, fresh thyme, paraffin, cocoa dust, wet nutmeg, old crumbling chocolate cookies, liquorice candy, candied beetroot, burnt raisins, the 'juice' oozing from a piece of roast venison. Sweetish onset with notes of elderberry and dried prunes, sourish edge, very light beef stock-ish umami accent; softish carbonation, smooth and oily body, a tad resinous. Lovely toasty and bitter-chocolatey maltiness with a sweeter toffeeish core maintaining balance; still becoming more roasty and coffeeish in the tail, aromatized by a black tea-, young spruce tip- and bergamot-like hoppiness that blends in a most fascinating way with an unexpectedly elegant beetroot aroma, the bitterness of which remains initially relative soft (relative to style, that is), but then grows and stretches out to a near-quinine-like level, with bittersweet dark maltiness still piercing through. Highly elegant, aromatic, rounded, somewhat distinct Cascadian, 'European' perhaps in putting a bit more emphasis on the malts than the hops even if the latter part was apparently enhanced compared with the first version, but the hops nevertheless do a great job here, with a very 'dark bronze' coloured, rustic and delicious character. The beetroot has been surprisingly well integrated - it is not such an unusual ingredient in beer as it seems, considering it has long been used in Belgium to cheaply add additional 'redness' to all too 'thinly made' cherry beers, but the heavy earthiness one tends to fear when this ingredient comes into the picture, remains completely absent - on the contrary, it has only added extra herbal aroma, that blends with the aromatic qualities of the hops in totally unexpected, yet highly fascinating ways. I had great Bevog beers before but strangely, so far this is a brewery I most associate with top notch black IPAs, a now somewhat obsolete beer style I still have a warm heart for, and this one only confirms that. Hugely enjoyed it.

33cl Blik van Drinks&Gifts. Milde, wat bloemige BIPA, met bietjes voor de kleur, met name voor de schuimkraag, geeft ook een licht aardse smaak aan het bier, niet storend gelukkig. Medium body.

Can, big bubbly red head, opaque deep dark red that looks black, really surprising at first, aroma of citrus, pine, dark malty and just a hint of dark fruit, piney soapy flavor with strong roasted notes, berry and green notes, mellow medium bitterness, just a whiff of sweetness complementing. Original and highly enjoyable.

Can, thanks HRABRAN! Pitch black body, pinkish creamy head. Interesting aroma, fruity and sharp, bit hoppy, not that many beets, mostly red berries. Lean taste - mild mild coffee, some fruity hoppiness, okay, I guess there might be some beets, there are some sweetish touches that might be it. Very nice really.
