Dissident’s roasted malt flavour dominates. Some chocolate sweetness resides behind the earthy richness. There’s some spice and molasses from the pilgrim and it signs off with a dry bitterness.

Huge, irregular bubbled cream head over dark cola-coloured beer. Smokey, ashes, roast, caramel, brown sugar. Smokey, and again especially ashy, dry flavour. Grist, burnt grains. Flavours lingering long. Light, even watery body, low carbonation. As much brown ale as porter, ’cept for the dryness. Thanks, Jezza!

Almost opaque deep ruby brown colour, small frothy beige head, half-way lasting, good lacing. Aroma light roasted malts, cocoa, light coffee. Taste medium sweet and bitter, roasted malts, chocolate, light ashes, with average duration. Mild bittersweet aftertaste, spicy notes, light-bodied, watery texture, soft carbonation; surprisingly full taste regarding the strengh, nice.
