Hazy amber beer. Soft and slightly syrupy palate. Creamy but bitter hops with a brief pineapple sweet note. Quite a bit of aniseedy alcohol comes to the fore in the finish. 3.2

Cloudy amber - brown beer. Food cream coloured head. Palate is smooth and slightly viscous with nice fine carbonation. Rich creamy malt with traces of caramel and toffee. Lovely fresh orange, orange marmalade and orange liqueur. Bringing it all together is a good barley wine like salty streak. Finishes smooth and semi dry. Some bitter linger. Great barley wine but DIPA?

Received in trade from mcallister, thank you for the opportunity. Pours a crystal clear orange/amber color with a large fluffy white head that won’t quit, and laces most of the way down the glass. Aroma is Hoppy as would be expected. Grainy, citrusy, resinous, orangey, grassy hops. Taste is wonderfully the same with a bit of caramel maltiness hidden deep underneath. Medium full body with ample carbonation. Great Brew with the alcohol well hidden. If this is what they are brewing out west, I’ve got to try some more. Great Stuff!

12 oz bottle shared by beastiefan2k. Batch 8369 marked on the bottle, meaning this was bottled on April 4, 2008. Pour is orange amber with a smallish off white head. Aroma of caramel sweet maltiness, light oxidation, mild fruit sweetness and some alcohol. Taste is malty sweet, citrus peel bitter, some pepper and cardboard oxidation. Palate is medium, drying and some heat in the finish. This was certainly past its prime, but still pretty interesting.

Bottled. Thanks Greg Koch for this treat. An amber beer with an orangey head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of grass and hops. The flavor has notes of grapefruit, bread, and grass, leading to a dry and bitter finish.

Bottle: Amber pour with a finger of beige head. Sticky lacing. Mostly heavy citrus in the nose with some sweet and malty notes. Resin too. Flavor is tons of piney resin notes and citrus. Caramel and florals with heavy lingering bitters. Simply outstanding. Thanks cpferris.

Bottle thanks to zathrus13. Shared with the Dallas crew at bu11zeye’s place. Beer has more attitude than hops...way more...to bad that’s not always a good thing. Pours with a largish white head (would hope so given the name), with a clear amber body. Great lacing and decent retention. Aroma of floral and spicy hops with a very sweet note and a bit of booziness. Taste is fruity with darkish malts, boozy with a very bland and unbalanced citrus hop profile. Syrupy mouthfeel. Seems like the brewer just threw everything randomly into the pot.

Bottle courtesy of Greg Koch at our stop at the Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens on 08/03/2008 on day three of RBSG. Clear copper amber body with a small off-white head. Big citrus hop aroma. Huge citrus and resin flavor possibly simcoe. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

12 oz. bottle from cdumler. Slightly hazy light bronze with a big slightly off white head. Good retention and great lacing. Very fruity aroma with strawberry and tropical notes, along with resiny and citrus notes imparted by the huge hop presence. Big malt backbone. Huge, very bitter hop taste with pineapple, citrus, vegetal and plum notes. Somewhat dry. Medium bodied with a slightly sticky texture. Thanks Chris!

Thanks to sliffy for sharing a bottle with me. This brew pours a mostly clear amber color with a medium white head that dissipates steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Floral hops aroma with some woody characteristics, as well as some bready malt. Medium-bodied and somewhat dry with floral hops, pine and sweet malt flavors. Tropical fruit here and there as well. The finish is hoppy and fruity with a lingering citrus hops aftertaste. Having been lucky enough to try beers like Ruination, Pliny the Elder and Hop 15 I can say this is a worthy tribute to the region.
