Because everyone needs a friend. It seems only natural that with San Diego being one of the closest cities to the Mexican Border that you would find a beer like Amigo. Brewed in the San Diego Lager style, this all malt lager is a refreshing way to start or finish a drinking session. The product of a true lager fermentation, this beer is crisp and lighter in body than most ales of similar strength making it a friendly choice for any occasion.

Half a pint in The Church, San Diego on 19th January 2022. Clean and clear golden body, white crown. Not too sure where the Mexican bit comes in, I didn't notice any lime or salt like features, just seemed like a normal Lager. It was thirst quenching and not unpleasant, just a little underwhelming really.

Draught @ the brewpub, San Marcos. Aroma has grainy malt and mild buttery tones. Feels surprisingly bulky. Flavour has buttery malt, grassy hops and some grain. Still quite bulky.

Draft at The Confessional. Poured a light yellow, totally translucent color with a small white head. Some light corn flakes note with a light crisp pale malt character. Flavor was about what you would expect from a Mexican lager, but this one was pretty solid.

Sample at the Port Brewing/Lost Abbey tasting room. Clear amber-gold color with a thin white head that evaporates quickly to an outer ring. Spotty lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of grainy malt and hops. Light-bodied with flavors of biscuit malt and grassy hops. The finish is mildly bitter with an herbal hops aftertaste. Average overall.
