The Duke is back in town! First brewed way back in 1986 this legendary British style strong ale is an all-time favourite that we bring back every winter. With a robust malt character showcasing notes of toffee, caramel, and raisin, Iron Duke is a classic winter warmer!

Bottle: Poured a clear dark brown color ale with a small off-white bubbly head with minimal retention. Aroma of light sweet roasted malt. Taste is also dominated by the light roasted malt with some sweetness. Carbonation is quite low and alcohol very subtle. Overall, this a good beer but nothing special that will make me seek this again.

Yellow-brown, creamy head, slightly irregular; brown beer with deep red highlights. Rich plumcake nose, some hops, cookies and horse straw. Sweetish base taste, cake-like with a lot of bitter overtones: USA hops but some bitterish-roasted notes as well. Good malt filling, some esters. Well-bodied, chewy, no adstringency. Nice but a bit stereotypical N. American. "English" strong ale - sure but not one from the UK, way to American hoppy for that.

Slightly hazy brown coloured body with a thin off-white head-fairly standard looking. Aroma of raisins, caramel, soap and a bit of malt-not too impressive. Medium-bodied; Strong burnt sugar flavour ranging from toffee to caramel with some hints of hops and a subtle bitterness. Overall, a decent beer-not as good as the Imperial Stout, but worth trying. I sampled this from a 65 cL bottle purchased at the LCBO in Toronto, Ontario (Queen’s Quay) brought back by JonR888710-thanks Jon!

Nice dark brown ale with a nice moka head. Intense malt nose, and even moreintense nutty malt taste with woody, almost porto or vinous tendancies. Alcool warmth enrobes your mouth and creamy mouthfeel. Yummy.

This Ale pours a deep red colour with a head that looks like soapy water. Grape citrus, doughy yeast and some nice malts make up the scent to this one. The first sip started out slightly acidic with a strong hoppy flavour of almost pine and more citrus (grape) notes. The palate was a little nutty with little to no carbonation. Almost flat. Too bad since this one came right from the brewery. This beer was better before when I tried it.

Bottled. Dark brown. Rather malty, roasty, salty with lingering bitterness. Full bodied beer with lots of flavour.
