Pours a nice brownish color with a generous creamy head. Very strong alcohol presence. I’ve had beers with double the abv that are smoother. Seems unfinished. Rated 11/17/2000

A hazy golden ale with a thick lacing off white head. An interesting doughy and yeasty aroma, with citrus notes, honey and fruity esters. In mouth, a good creamy mouthfeel, with vanilla fudge, coriander and curacao. Rich, creamy and intense. Bottle obtained around 2007. Tasted with Probstk, Jan 11 2009.

Had the pleasure of sampling this at the 1/27/2008 Pittsburgh ratebeer.com gathering and festival upstairs, Sharp Edge Creekhouse. It will be a long time, if ever I am invited again and I see a spread of bottles like I did there - ever again. I am not good enough for the beers that were that we sampled! For example, how about this beer, from the manager himself, mtoast. Smells a little sweet and fruity, somewhat like wine at times. Slightly hazy pale yellow with decent lacing. Barely any carbonation. Fairly strong with alky but it seem to have less than the 7.7% listed here. Overall rather strong, shows confidence in it’s personality. After a while this stuff really gets to the back of the throat, in a good way of course.

Hazy golden body with a medium off-white head. Sweet citrus and spice aroma. Light fruity flavor, some apple, banana, and a touch of sour.

Bottle pours a slightly hazy pale golden witha small quick white film of a head. Fine thin sheets of lacing. Aroma is a very light sweet almost pilsnerish malty. Flavor is again rather pilsnerish and the Belgian notes I was expecting are quite faint. Pleasant enough but nothing special. Clean finish.

Bottle: Poured a slightly hazy dirty yellow ale with a medium foamy head with average retention. Aroma of floral malt is quite powerful and very enjoyable. Taste is very refreshing with a nice dose of floral malt, Belgian yeast and a medium hoppy finish. Definitely not a great beer but a good golden Belgian ale that can be served as a refreshing drink during hot summer days.

Bottled. U.S. Beer 27 of 31 for American Beer Month! Smell is kind of light when opened, just a whiff of fruitiness, hops, and maybe brett. May have gone a little stale. Pours slightly darker than a pils, a bit cloudy, making a nice soda-pop sound as the head fizzes. Immediate taste impression is of a nice champagne, which I enjoy. Alcohol is well in front, followed by a light fruitiness, close to but not quite cherries. There is a kind of yeasty taste, but not the "pizza dough" of some beers, more like it’s kicking into the champagne driness and bitterness. Definitely complex and intrguing.
