On tap at the Thirsty Monk in Asheville the night prior to Brewgrass. They had a vertical of 2009 - 2011 versions my cousin got the last glass of 09 and me of 2010. Pours jet black and nose of deep chocolate and espresso. Taste is of chocolate goodness, toffee, coffee, dark fruits, earth, slight chalk, and some sprucey hops. Not ideal drink to start with but got to drink it while it lasts. really good

At ACBF 2011. Bottle thanks to someone wondering around with this bottle. Black with lasting tan hea.d Lots of cocoa. Pure cocoa, good in mouth, slightly balanced even for so much choc. Good beer. Love the choc on this.

Bottled, thanks GT2! Black, small head. Aroma of dark chocolate and licorice. Sweet and soft, full bodied. Sugar and tobacco, lots of cocoa, growing bitter finish. A very solid chocolaty sweet stout.

bottle at RBSG 2010 - Pours near black with a big, roasted chocolate aroma. I think this full bodied brew is exactly as advertised by the name... dark roast malt and chocolate rules the flavor. It’s really good at what it does. I’m not completely blown away, but give Foothills credit for making a tasty brew.

A deep dark stout with a super thick dark brown head. A nice herbaceous chocolate aroma, with light Brett funk, herbal hops notes. In mouth, a decadent sweet chocolate with liqueur qualities, real well balanced, light lingering coffee notes. Rich and balanced. On tap at Great North Carolina Brewers Fest., August 28 2010.

Shared by dcachur at the Grand Tasting, RBSG. Thanks for a beer I long wanted to try. Wish I had kept the label! Huge chocolate aroma, light on coffee, a little café au lait but very chocolaty. Creamy, sweet, with a nice bitter bite at the end. Chocolate lovingly rules the day. Luscious.
