22 oz bottle courtesy of Suttree. 2008 Vintage 429/500 marked on the label. Pour is black and deep brown, smallish khaki head on top. Aroma of roasted coffee, bitter roast malt, sweet cane sugar on the edge of it. Hint of straw earthiness and tobacco. Taste is the roast malt, slightly bitter coffee, soft cocoa and cane sugar sweetness. Nice balance and integration. Slight alcohol heat in the finish, but not unexpected. Palate is medium thick, mouth coating. There is a nice clean bitterness to the long finish. Nice one, thanks Phil!

Bottle (#446/500) pours a dark, dark brown with a nice creamy brown head. Roasty nose and coffee with some chocolate. Very rich and smooth. Tastes roasty and smokey, a bit of tobacco. Dry roast and coffee. Some bitters...wtf? Where is the flippin chocolate? Mouthful is creamy, damn near exceptional. Lingering bitters and coffee. However, I wanted (and expected) a big chocolate presence. It’s still good, but damn it if it didn’t live up to either it’s name or the hype.

OTH tasting 09/06/08 courtesy of CCB head brewer Wayne. Thanks buddy. Pours deep dark darkness near sludgy black with thin tan head. The aroma is roasty, chocolate, toasty and holds hints of hotness in the nose. The taste is fairly rich with dark chocolate along with thick chewy roasty malts. It has layers of sweet malts too. Very smooth blended and just plain yummy. I love the moderate chocolate notes and how they platy against the other malt character in this beer. Some may need this beer to be bolder in nature due to its bold name.

Courtesy of Foothills’ own Wayne Wambles. Pours a deep black with brownish head. Aroma of chocolate. Taste, lots of chocolate, thick mouthfeel, roasted malts, light chocolate bitterness. Up there with the best of chocoloate beers.

Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, dark fruits, chilli notes. Very complex. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Very very nice ;o)) This is very good stuff. (240508)
