Imperial Stout Aged in Bourbon Barrels with Cacao Nibs and Coffee

Mocha Wednesday is the perfect follow-up to Black Tuesday. Layers of artisan dark chocolate and bold coffee collide (especially when consumed fresh) thanks to cacao nibs from San Francisco's TCHO and freshly roasted coffee from Mostra Coffee.

Can. Intense, with roasted malts, coffee and dark chocolate. Cocoa. Nice indeed, even at this ABV. 848417

Can shared at work. Jet black pour with a thin but persistent head. Nose is huge chocolate, coffee and bourbon bomb, sweet and out there, intense af. Taste is also pretty sweet upfront, it’s packed with chocolate and coffee notes, also shows some poppy seed, nougat and molassess. It’s obviously heavy, you almost gotta chew on it. As the sip’s gone so is the taste, it’s quite boozy and leaves a burning sensation and a dry finish. Starts outstanding but the ABV does show eventually.

2021 edition, can, from kihoskh quite boozy aroma, honey, liqeur, glue, roasted malts, vanilla, not sure i get any cofee nor any obvious barrel aged notes. perhaps it's just too strong for those noets to develop clearly. flavor is very boozy, clear notes of coffee and dry/sour coffee, warming sensation in the body from the high ABV, wood, malts and coffee so dry it gets borderline citrussy, this is so powerful it can match any cheese easily. Flavor is more interesting than pleasant though, and i'm not at all afraid of high ABV beers, alc. is not at all well hidden here.. You can't blame bruery for not experimenting and doing crazy stuff from time to time...

Taster showing pitch black and no head.

The nose shows intense dark chocolate and notes of cannabis.

The palate is lightly carbonated and full bodied. Black coffee forward with a medium alcoholic spice and espresso on the finish.

Big thanks to wh_ale_watchin / Mike for this! After having tried BT and GM I’ve been very excited for this. Pours pitch black with a medium dark brown head. Aromas of dark roasted coffee, cocoa, vanilla, dark chocolate, bourbon, fruity coffee, subtle smokiness. Taste is coffee forward, bourbon, dark sweet chocolate, light licorice, vanilla, fudge, savory notes, cocoa. Hot damn, this is good! A lot better than BT and GM. Excited for CR! We’ll see if it lives up to this one.
