Our Collaboration beer breweed with Urbain Cotteau of De Struise Browers, Vletern, Belgium. Very similar to a Flanders Oud Bruin, this sour mash beer is rich, slightly smoky and sour. There is a unique woody flavor from the 4 month bourbon barrel conditioning it underwent. The nose is very light caramel and vanilla. The color is ruby brown to amber. It is brewed similarly to Urbain’s own Ypres beer, with a Kentucky Spin on it. [Website lists ABV at 7.0%, bottle says 9.0%].

Bottle, many thanks Jan! Hazy dark amber-brown color with beige head. Aroma is fresh barrel, oak, cherries, chalky, chocolate. Taste is the same. A very dry Sour Red with a nice refreshing finish. Clinically clean oaky Sour which hides the ABV ridiculously well....

750ml bottle shared at CC/KY tasting. Vinegar, acidic sourness. Chunky unfiltered orange-brown body. Oliy beige head. Yeasty and rich. A great sour beer, very American for better or worse. Good stuff. 750ml shared at tasting. Deep amber burgundy. Quite a nice Oud Bruin. Oily beige head. Big red vinegar notes. The malts do a good job of combating the huge US sour-like tones. I don’t get much smoke, but maybe it just merges in well. Very nice.

Mild säuerlicher, kaum malziger Antrunk. Auch im Mittelteil mild säuerlich, dazu passend herb. Trockenes Malz, leichte Holzigkeit. Erfrischend, wenig aromatisch. In Ordnung. 10/11/11/10/11/10

Bottle @ RBBSG, 2014. Thanks Travlr! Red brown colour, some white foam. Aroma of red fruit with notes of vinegar and some smoke. Light sweet. Not very complex. Bit watery, thin body.
