This rich, black beauty with a thick caramel head is bursting with aromas of chocolate, vanilla, oak, bourbon, licorice and dark fruits, while flavors of chocolate-covered plum, sweet malt, bourbon, and roasted coffee explode on your palate. This is no ordinary beer; three different dark roasted malts and rich maple syrup are combined in a truly unique brewing process to create complexity and depth. Once fermented, it’s then aged for eight months in freshly emptied bourbon barrels. Bottle (2013) pour shared by ClarkVV--thanks, Clark!! Opaque black with no head or lacing. Aroma is malt, bourbon. Taste is woody, earthy malt, bourbon. Smooth, fairly thick texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste. No maple syrup, which is sad but not particularly surprising after 11 years.

2013 vintage. There is a bottle number count but who cares? Thank you ClarkVV. The brew is still drinking ok. The yeast has eaten the body of this brew. Not much other than chocolate.

750mL cork and cage, 2013, drunk 6/1/24. A bit of a pfft upon opening but not much. No head. Syrupy, dark, clear. Smells neutral. Light chocolate, light bourbon, not really oxidized? Not super aromatic, but clean with excellent bourbon spice. Lean, obviously very attenuated at this point. Oddly not oxidized at all, but just thinned out, unfortunately. Char, dark chocolate, spicy bourbon. Not boozey, but the body has no depth left, sadly.

Bottle shared @ Dangerous Bottleshares #11. Big thanks to Brandon for sending me this! Pours pitch black with a small dark brown head. Aromas of roast, fudge, caramel, dark chocolate, molasses, light port wine, vanilla. Taste is roasty, sweet licorice, bourbon, vanilla, coffee, dark chocolate, savory notes, sweet tobacco, light heat. Damn, this is good!

Bottle @ ZZTX. Black, opague. Maple syrup in the malty aroma Malty sweet, roasty alcoholic flavor with notes of vanilla and bourbon. Some red fruit in the far background. Powerful but lacks complexity.
