Draught from Rattle. Strong syrupy maple nose. Sweet taste. A very good old ale. Low character count. Just kiddin. I really enjoyed.

Bottle. What a nice tasty beer. The perfect winter beer. Deep brown in color with not much head. Aroma was mostly maple with hints of bourbon. The taste was an explosion of maple with a complex bourbon mixed in.

Bottle from Drankenhandel Leiden. Aroma is sweet maple syrup with caramel malt, vanilla, sweet barley malt, toffee, bourbon, oak, alcohol, sugary fruits, marzipan. Flavour is massively sweet with a light bitterness and a boozy finish. Body is full with a very sticky texture. Like 'regular' Curmudgeon a bit too sticky and syrupy for my taste, extremely sweet, a warming sippin' beer.

Beer #4 of my 10,00th Beer Milestone Celebration! 2018 Vintage Very nice, muddied deep brown coloured body while still somehow showing some lighter copper and bronze tints along with a pretty thick and rich three to four centimetre tall off-white and almost tan coloured head that stays afloat nicely, especially for a beer that's been aging for at least five years! Aroma of molasses, raisins, treacle, toffee, pitted fruits, earth, grain, maple syrup, honey and a dash of nuts here with a pretty big malt backbone, but the sugars are intense in the nose, at least. Full-bodied; Super rich, super malty, super sweet, super pungent all while showing the bourbon notes, a ton of the malts and body here with a big vanilla finish here that almost brings out a marshmallow-y kick and a slight hint of rustic nuts and earth, but those are minimal, probably due to the aging. Aftertaste shows some relatively strong malts and especially strong sugars with a big hit of molasses, figs, prunes, raisins and pitted fruits with a lot of residual sugars here, but a big dose of hay and rustic notes at least leaves the impression of complexity due to something else than the malts and the sugars, which are easily the strongest aspects here. overall, a very nice, super sweet, deep and pungent beer that shows a lot of malts, sugars and especially caramelised sugar sweetness along with pitted fruits, but this shows very nice, perhaps/maybe because of the age on this one, but this has tempered really well and I'm curious (although, i'll likely never know) how good this is at 10 or 15 years in the bottle, because at 5+ years, it's great! I sampled this 75 cL bottle, purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 22-September-2018 for US$10,79 sampled as part of the 2018 Release, sampled as Beer #4 [of 21 - 10 (for 10,000) of Each side of the 10,000 Beer Milestone and the 10,000th itself!] of my 10,000th Beer Milestone, and sampled at my house here in Washington on 30-April-2023.

Taster at the Lincoln Fill Station. Pours a dark, red color, with a small, tan head. The aroma is caramel, maple, cinnamon, dust, and candied orange. Sweet and malty and a little boozy. Heavy, syrupy, and grainy. Beautiful and aggressive.
