Bottled Nov 25, 2020, drunk 5/24/23. Dark, inky, small, tan head, low retention. Soft wheat, yet bourbony (not too much so), with light alcohol, pepper and graphite. Sweet chocolate and fudge with caramel and light vanilla. Bit of grape, prune, tobacco, more alcohol with warming though it's not hot. Soft, wheat-forward with a slick, easygoing texture. Good sweetness, not too much so, with maple, fudge and caramel. Bourbon spice, graphite, pepper and light oxidation at this point. Round, soft, bourbony, drying alcohol. Classy. Maybe a bit of breadiness I don't love and some strong maple residuals at points, but otherwise, well-barreled and interesting with a super-soft texture.

Sample at Churchkey. Leggy, opaque black with a ring of beige head. Nose has burnt toast, fig and dried fruit. Raisin. Some pencil lead in the mouth. Then malt and roast. Tons of umami. Contributes to a long mouthfeel. Cocoa and raisins. Deep licorice. Lots happening. Its hot though and the edges need some rounding. Full bodied, prickly finish. 8 8.5 8.5 8 8.5

Poured from 500mL bottle (bottled Oct 3, 2018). Near black with minimal beige head. Mild maple syrup and soy sauce with woody bourbon barrel notes. Perhaps some feint oxidation notes, but enjoyable.

Bottle, at share, thanks to Chris D. Pours black. Maple, chocolate, prune, liquorice, sweet boozy vanilla bourbon oak stuff, cypress wood, earthy roasty coffee. Nice smooth body. Very good.
Always a treat.
