Pours oily black from the can with a light brown head. Aroma of coffee and charred grain. Taste is bitter, full of strong roasted notes, but neatly balanced by a milk chocolate undertone and mild sourness. Big, thick body, mild carbonation, oily. Nice.

Can. Wine Rack, Sharrow, Sheffield. 7.5%. Pours a nicely silky, deep chestnut brown. Sits almost black in the glass, with a fine, semi lacing tan head. Nose has cocoa powder. Earthy coffee. Some yeasty gravy. Some dried fruit. Taste is dry, and earthy, fruity bitter. Medium body. A bit ashy. Fine carbonation. Lingering bitterness to finish.

(Keg at Rotterdam, 20200126) The beer poured black. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had burnt malts, dark chocolate and cocoa powder. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, dark chocolate, ash, grass and bitterness. Aftertaste was burnt, ashy and bitter. A nice burnt brew with slightly too ashy notes.
