This extra porter is a pitch black beer with a long lasting, chestnut colored head. It has a roasted malt and licorice aroma with hints of ash and smoke, and a slightly sweet taste with notes of licorice and caramel with a sweet and bitter finish.

Aroma is rather rich with vanilla, ash and cocoa. Flavour is also rich with cocoa, coffee, some burnt sugar and vanilla. Thick and somewhat sticky palate. Very good!

Bottle. Very hoppy. Dark chocolate. A bit dry. Some licorice. Milk sourness. A little too much for me.

Finn was kind to share a 500ml bottle of this one at a rating session in Tromsø. Bubbly, low, fawn-coloured head. Jet black body. Nice aromas of slightly roasted chocolate malts. The taste character brings anise, earthy malts, chocolate and dark fruits. Fresh and semi-tart ending. Surprisingly easy to drink, and easy to like, as well (Finns, Tromsø 22.09.2011).
