Double Chocolate Coffee Oatmeal Stout

The coffee lover’s consummate beer. Brewed with an abundance of flaked oats, bitter and imported chocolates, and two types of coffee, this stout has an intense fresh-roasted java nose topped with a frothy, cinnamon-colored head that goes forever.

Bottle at home from Beerhawk. A big pour and an aroma of roasted and burnt malt. The taste was, as expected, all about the malt, but with quite a lot of sweetness coming in from the oatmeal. Exceptional mouthfeel, but that sweetness was a bit too much for me.

This review was imported from my RateBeer ratings.

12 oz. bottle.

AROMA: Scents of chocolate, coffee, and caramel.

APPEARANCE: Pours an opaque black with a medium-tan head that dissipates slowly.

TASTE: Medium-sweet with flavors of dark coffee, chocolate, and cream

PALATE: Full-bodied, creamy texture, with average carbonation. Finish is subtle coffee bitterness that slowly wanes.

OVERALL: It's dark, it's sweet, it's creamy, and it's coffee flavored! What's not to like? However, it does tend to be on the sweet side, but not quite to the point of being cloying (although, admittedly, it is walking a fine line here). If you like stouts and you like coffee, then you can't go wrong with this one.

Bottle. Color: Black, dense and long lasting light brown head. Aroma: Rather sweet coffee and chocolate. Taste: Over medium sweet roasted malt, strong notes of coffee, notes of chocolate / cocoa. Moderate bitter. Full body, soft carbonation. Creamy. Very well balanced. Great beer.

On tap at Grape & Grain, Moorabbin. Pours very dark brown black with a tan top. Aroma: moderate to heavy roasted malts, dark choc, dense coffee beans. Taste: dry, roasted malts, moderate sweet, moderate bitter, coffee dominating dark choc. Medium to heavy body, average carb, lovely smooth mouthfeel. Dry, bitter coffee finish

Schön dunkel, Schaum hält sich wacker. Im Trunk deutlich Schokolade, Kaffee, süßer Nachhall, Röstmalz. Sehr hohe Drinkability, lecker.
