At BXL Festival. Hazy golden with white head. Sweet malts, fresh wet grass, hay, grain, light fruity. Moderate sweet and bitter. Thin body and soft carbonation. Lovely table beer. Definitely taste some typical Kernel character in there. --- Beer merged from original tick of (collab with) The Kernel Brewery Colonel Toby on 01 Sep 2018 at 17:35 - Score: 8

Sampled from the tap at Mixed Culture. Pours a hazy light yellow with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of grass, earthy flora, light fruits and a grain backbone. Flavor starts with grass and a hint of pine with growing grains and earthy funk notes.

750 ml bottle into signature tulip glass; Batch #1, bottled on 12/14/2016. Pours slightly hazy pale golden/straw color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big tart lemon, lime, grapefruit, citrus peel, peach, pear, mango, melon, red/green apple, white wine, peppercorn, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, cracker, white bread, light leathery/musty funk, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/spicy yeast, citrus/fruity hops, and light-moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tart lemon, lime, grapefruit, citrus peel, peach, pear, mango, melon, red/green apple, white wine, peppercorn, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, cracker, white bread, light leathery/musty funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate peppery yeast spiciness, herbal/grassy/citrus peel bitterness, and light lactic tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart lemon, lime, grapefruit, citrus peel, peach, pear, mango, melon, red/green apple, white wine, peppercorn, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, cracker, white bread, light leathery/musty funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/spicy yeast, citrus/fruity hops, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/tart/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero astringent flavors after the finish. Moderate increasing dryness from tart/bitter/spiciness and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and light body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp, grainy/sticky, and lightly acidic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 3.4%. Overall this is an awesome session saison! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/spicy yeast, citrus/fruity hops, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink with the modestly bitter/spicy/drying finish. Very flavorful for the low ABV, and never watery feeling. Well rounded classic JK house funk/saison yeast complexity, with nice C hop presence, and solid malt backbone. A really enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.
