Golden naked oats mashed with dark crystal and robust roasted malts create a luscious black brew with a satin smooth finish. Layering UK Target hops in the boil adds a pleasant, earthy complexity while higher fermentation temperatures enhance the overall flavor with fruity esters. An old-world style, done the Green Flash way. Big, bold, flavorful and complex – Double Stout.

At a tasting, thanks teddybeer, creamy bubbly light brown head, very long lasting, aroma of soy, caramel candy and roasted coffee, flavour of dark burned caramel, roasted coffee, charred notes and dark chocolate, creamy mouthfeel, medium bitterness. Very nice to sip.

Bottle at home from GBBF 2013. St patricks day. Opaque black colour with some red hues with a big tan head that fades but sticks around. Aroma is an initial blast of coco and lactose sweetness, later the aroma comes ashy roast carbonation and a touch soapy. Flavour is rich dark chocolate, ashy acrid roast that is smoothed out with cream lactose. Palate is silky smooth and full and a touch milky. soft carbonation. Lingering roast a bit rough round the edges. Later some low fruits berries come out and add to the complexity. Good stuff.

12 oz bottle for #1,000. Pours black with a tan head. Creamy cocoa and coffee aroma, some breakfast cereal. Roasty coffee and cocoa with a good bit of earthiness. It’s pretty good.

On tap at Tapwerks. Pours black with a dark brown that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has notes of dry roasted malt with dark grains and a hint of bitter coffee. Flavor has a strong roasted malt note, almost with a bit of smoke, and a dry dark finish.

Good solid stout. Opaque black pour, small tan head, aroma of robust coffee and vanilla, some booze, taste is similar with the addition of some resiny hop notes. Nice finish, dry but a little bit of a burnt flavor in the back. Nice.

Bottle, Brew Dog.com. Consumed on my 40th birthday. Black pour with an attractive tan head. Roasted malt, choc and coffee notes in the beak. Similar taste, full and well rounded with some tidy hop presence. Subdued alco presence. Excellent stout, can’t fault it.

It has a pitch black colored body that leaves a large foamy dark tan colored head leaving some nice lumpy valleys inside the head. Thick beautiful ringy lacing graces the sides of the chalice. The aroma has a smoky coffee and dark chocolate and the taste takes those smells and adds a nice flavorful charcoal. On the palate, hmmm.... kinda at a medium sort of body - with a thick creamy coating around the tongue. Though a fairly high ABV, the alcohol is well hidden. Overall, this is good for its style and its spectacular for me. I would definitely come back to this, especially to have in the other glasses

I bought a 4 pack...locally. Good to see GF in town.

Pitch black pour that brings a 2 finger head of tan foam. The foam is just sitting there, not shrinking at all, so I guess I’ll have to drink some to check on the lacing. That’s a + comment.

Nice notes of roasted malt, chocolate, and dark fruits in the nose. Mostly on the sweetish side but has some bitterness. No aroma of any of the biggish abv.

My, this is a chewy brew. I love the roasted malt character that brings some dark fruits, nice chocolate flavour, and a pretty strong roasted malt bitterness. The alcohol does come through more in the taste than the smell and at times, seems to dominate the taste. Fix that, and I think the brew would be up there in world class territory.

Big bodied with ample carbonation, the mouthfeel is fine.

Overall, it’s a nice Imperial Stout. Just needs a bit of tweeking to get it where I’d want it to be.

I almost forgot...lacing is fine.
