Hai mai preso un due di picche? Poi vedi tutto nero… hai l’amaro in bocca…

Note degustative: fruttato esotico, balsamico, torrefatto

Draft @ Moeder Lambic Italian Beerfest ’13.

Sampled draft @ CML Italian Beer Festival 2013. Thx! to Sebletitje. Best beer there for me personally. Pours a blackish dark brown with a beige head. Nose is mainly dark malts, brown sugar, light dark fruits, light roast, sweet chocolate covering a bit some light hops in the back, hint of pine, etc. Taste is slightly roasted & bitter milky chocolate mocha, coffee, I am getting Sorachi Ace, light milk chocolate, light pine, grapefruit, getting some of that sweet blue cheese Sorachi Ace goodness,… Very easy to drink. Lovely.

Tap at Ma Che, 11/02/13. Light black with a thinnish/medium sized bubbly tan head that retains well. Nose is pine, hops, bitter grapefruit. Taste comprises tropical fruits, bitter grapefruit, light chocolate, hops, pine. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, decent level of bitterness in the finish. Good quality Cascadian Dark fayre !!!

Corpo medio, carbonazione corretta. Non male, ma mi piacerebbe riprovarla.

Bottle during the Semi-Final Tasting at my place, London. Pours red-brown with a large, tight beige foam head. Surprisingly floral nose, with very light roast and some citrus. Light to medium sweet flavor with mild toast, some faint cocoa, herbal grass and semi-dark roast. Light to medium bodied with big, smooth carbonation. Very mild finish with some toasty malts, light roast, modest herbal grassy bitters. Nice. Some light pine resins linger. Big thanks to my colleague Will for bringing me a bottle of this from Rome!

Bottle at Leighton’s Euro Semi-Final tasting. It pours deep brown, with a massive beige head. The nose is pine, caramel, resin, roasted malt and liquorice. The taste is pine, charcoal, roasted malt, touch of caramel sweetness, coffee and decent bitterness, with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Good balance, flavoursome and easy drinking. Like it.

Bottled. An unclear brown beer with a lazing dark brown head. The aroma has notes of hops, roasted malt, and chocolate. The flavor is sweet with notes of chocolate, hops, and a bit of rosted malt, leading to a bitter finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.
